Jiva Workshop is a husband-and-wife team based on the Mornington Peninsula, pairing a dedicated wedding photographer with a wedding cinematographer. Sharne photographs and Brett films, and they have been documenting weddings together since two thousand and ten. The name comes from a Sanskrit word meaning alive, which is the quality they look for: the small moments on the day that would otherwise pass unnoticed.
They describe their approach as relaxed and their style as candid, and both come through in the work: couples at ease by the water, in the back of the car, mid-kiss under a garden arch. Both partners came from professional creative backgrounds in film, television and advertising before turning to weddings, and they talk about a wedding as a story to be told rather than a shot list to be worked through.
Couples marrying on the Mornington Peninsula who want photography and film from one team rather than two suppliers, and who like the idea of a highlights reel alongside the album. Their published work runs from vineyard and estate ceremonies through to pier and beach portraits across the peninsula, so it suits both a formal venue day and a loose coastal one.
Wedding coverage starts from one thousand eight hundred dollars for six hours, and additional hours are three hundred dollars each for photography and again for video. A second shooter is often used and a third is available. The online gallery and film are ready in four to six weeks, with final files delivered the week after. All amounts are inclusive of GST, and any permits required to photograph in national parks or on beaches are the couple’s responsibility.
The photographer and the cinematographer are the same two people at every wedding, which is unusual for a combined photo and film booking. They also fly a drone when conditions allow, and are candid about when they cannot.
