Kinship by Kristy is Kristy Visscher, a wedding and editorial photographer who lives in Gippsland and also works out of Melbourne. She shoots on both digital and film, photographs around twenty-five weddings a year, and her work has run in British Vogue, Tatler, The Lane, The Wed, Hello May and Together Journal. The site is deliberately spare: it shows the work and asks you to enquire.
Romantic and ethereal with an editorial edge, but she is clear that most of the day is photographed as it unfolds rather than directed. She is drawn to quiet moments, low light and motion, with a strong affinity for timeless black and white. The Lane describes her as sensing when to gently direct and when to let go entirely.
Couples marrying in Gippsland, Melbourne or further afield who want an editorial, magazine-quality result and are comfortable enquiring for pricing rather than choosing from a published list. Film coverage is part of the offer, not an add-on.
Wedding collections are quoted on enquiry, and coverage hours are worth asking. The one published product is a handcrafted fine art album discounted by when bought with a wedding collection: lay-flat, eighty to a hundred images across about twenty-five spreads, with three rounds of design review and a four-month completion window.
The press record is unusually strong for a regional photographer, and she shoots film alongside digital, which is what gives the black-and-white work its character.
