Pepper & Salt is the restaurant at Forest Hill Winery on the South Coast Highway outside Denmark, and it runs weddings as a full-service operation rather than a room hire. Vineyard hills on one side, towering karri forest on the other, and a kitchen led by Chef Silas Masih whose signature is spice.

Setting & Style

Four ceremony sites on one property: a sunken amphitheatre under the karris, the cellar door for a candlelit or wet-weather ceremony, the front lawn looking over the valley to Mt Halliwell, and the restaurant itself — floor-to-ceiling glass onto the valley — for the reception.

The Need-to-Knows

100 in the restaurant, 150 under a marquee. “Our restaurant accommodates a maximum of 100 guests. We can host marquee weddings on the property for larger weddings, so you can invite 150.” And there is a threshold in the fine print: “For weddings up to 100 guests, we provide all of these items” — tables, chairs, napkins, tableware, glassware — “For larger weddings, you may need to hire some of these items.”
Every menu is written from scratch. “No two wedding menus are ever the same”, designed by the head chef in a consultation with you, with the drinks package matched to it.
No BYO. “No, we're not a BYO venue. We provide a fully stocked bar” — though something with personal significance can be discussed.
Pricing is behind an email-capture form. The Wedding & Catering Guide is downloaded through a mailing-list signup, so no figure appears on the public site.
The package is exclusive use of the whole venue and grounds, plus tables, chairs, linen napkins, cutlery, crockery, glassware, gift table, cake table and easel, and the coordinator sets and dresses both spaces for you.
Book about a year ahead, on the venue's own advice, and note it is a trading restaurant — lunch Thursday to Sunday, dinner Friday.
Accommodation is not on site: booking a wedding gives access to “our partner's exclusive luxury stay packages”.

NO PRICING APPEARS ON THE PUBLIC SITE. Every pricing route ends at the same place: 'DOWNLOAD WEDDING & CATERING GUIDE', which is a mailing-list signup on an external form host. Submitting personal data to a capture form is outside what this campaign does, so no package price, per-head figure, hire fee, minimum spend or deposit was obtained. The gate is recorded rather than implying the venue publishes nothing - it publishes a guide, behind an email address.

THE 100-GUEST LINE IS A COST THRESHOLD, NOT JUST A CAPACITY. 'For weddings up to 100 guests, we provide all of these items. For larger weddings, you may need to hire some of these items.' A marquee wedding of 150 therefore carries hire costs a 100-guest restaurant wedding does not.
NO BYO: 'Can we bring our own alcohol? No, we're not a BYO venue. We provide a fully stocked bar and will help you select your drinks package for the evening. However, if there is something that you'd like to bring with you because it's special to the evening, we can discuss this.'
DIETARY IS PROMISED BUT NOT ITEMISED, SO IT IS RECORDED NULL. The venue says 'All dietary requirements will be catered for so that every guest can enjoy your wedding feast' and, in the FAQ, 'Can you accommodate special dietary requirements or menu preferences for catering? This venue sits at 1564 South Coast Highway - the same address as Forest Hill Vineyard, which Batch 138 ruled out for having zero wedding mentions on foresthillwines.com.au. That rejection was correct: the winery does not market weddings on its own site. Its restaurant does, on a separate domain, as a separate business.
