About

Overview & Vibe

Sydney Sakura Studio is a documentary wedding and elopement photography practice run by Nao, a Sydney-based photographer who also works in maternity, family and engagement photography. Bilingual in Japanese and English, she works with multicultural couples and photographs small, unposed celebrations rather than large, heavily directed weddings.

Style & Approach

The approach is documentary and candid: quiet observation with light, unobtrusive direction only at key moments such as arrivals, family portraits and timeline prompts. Every gallery is hand-edited, and the finish can be tailored to a film-inspired, bright-and-clean or moody look depending on what a couple prefers.

Ideal For

Couples planning an intimate wedding or elopement under fifty guests, registry ceremonies, backyard celebrations and last-minute or small-scale bookings. The studio is LGBTQI-friendly and regularly photographs same-sex and rainbow-family weddings, and its bilingual service suits Japanese-speaking and multicultural families.

The Need-to-Knows

Coverage runs from a three-hour Simple Elopement package up to a six-hour Half Day and ten-hour Full Day or Premium package, with an additional hour available on any package. Payment plans are offered, with a deposit to secure the date and the remaining balance split into two or three instalments due in full at least one month before the wedding.

Standout Feature

Nao is also a practising solicitor, and brings that background into how sessions are planned and run: organised, punctual and clear about logistics, with a calm approach when a wedding-day timeline runs under pressure.

Albums & Prints

  • Albums and prints are available as optional add-ons to any wedding package; couples can also choose digital-only files to keep costs down.

Appointment Policy

  • Enquiries are made through the contact form, followed by a short conversation to talk through the day.
  • Last-minute bookings are accepted where dates allow, and packages can be updated later as long as changes such as adding a second photographer are confirmed early.

Areas Serviced

  • Sydney, including the Eastern Suburbs, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Hunter Valley, with additional destinations available along the New South Wales east coast by arrangement.

Booking & Deposit

  • A deposit secures the date, with the remaining balance split into two or three interest-free instalments and due in full at least one month before the wedding; paying in full by EFT carries no additional fee.

Hours of Coverage

  • Coverage ranges from a 3-hour Simple Elopement session to a 6-hour Half Day package, with 10-hour Full Day and Premium options for a complete wedding day; additional hours can be added to any package.

Nearby Landmarks

  • Sydney's ceremony and reception spots span the harbour foreshore, eastern beaches and inner-city venues, from waterfront lawns to garden pavilions.
  • The Blue Mountains lie about ninety minutes west of Sydney and are a popular elopement and day-trip destination.
  • The Hunter Valley and Central Coast lie north of Sydney and are common destinations for couples marrying outside the city.

  • Simple Elopement: 3 hours of coverage for under 10 guests, from $1,500.

  • Full Day: up to 10 hours of continuous coverage with a pre-wedding shoot of up to 1 hour and a fully edited gallery within 6 weeks, from $4,000, suited to getting ready, ceremony, portraits, reception and first dance.
  • Premium: up to 10 hours with two photographers, everything included in the Full Day package plus a one-year anniversary session of up to 1 hour that can be converted to a maternity session, and help finding a celebrant, hairstylist, makeup artist and florist, from $6,500.
  • Additional Hour: extra coverage can be added to any wedding package for $500 per hour.
  • Second Photographer: a second photographer for full-day coverage costs approximately $150 per hour, useful when partners are getting ready in different places or for weddings of more than 50 guests.
