Photography by Joshua McTackett is a one-person Canberra studio working across the capital and the Southern Highlands, with more than 200 weddings behind it. The portfolio runs from garden ceremonies and homestead lawns to winery barrel rooms, sunlit paddocks, lantern-lit arbours and late reception dance floors, and there is a lot of weather in it: rain under clear umbrellas, low backlight through willows, movement caught rather than arranged. The pitch is that the day should feel good while it is being photographed, not just afterwards.
For most of the day the approach is photojournalistic, with moments left to unfold and caught as they actually happen. When it is time for portraits he steps in with confident, fun direction, aiming for images that feel relaxed, editorial and genuinely like the couple rather than staged. He describes the balance as giving space when it matters and guidance when it is needed, and candid, stress-free coverage is the thing he leads with.
Couples who want a whole-day record of a Canberra or Southern Highlands wedding without the day stopping for the camera, and who would rather their photographer felt like part of the party. It suits people who feel nervous or unphotogenic and want direction at the moments they need it. The hybrid option suits couples who want a short film alongside the photographs without booking two separate teams.
Whole-day wedding photography coverage and a full price guide is sent on request rather than published. Bookings are open for 2027 and 2028. Availability, package details and a consultation are all arranged by written enquiry, and an enquiry on its own does not hold a date. No album range, delivery timeframe or booking deposit is published.
Wedding Night Collections: a curated sneak peek of the key moments, edited and delivered before the night is over or the next morning, so the couple and their guests can look back at the day while it is still happening. Alongside it he offers hybrid photo and video coverage, producing a cinematic highlight film of roughly four to ten minutes as well as the photo gallery.
