Overview & Vibe

Purnella Park Coachhouse is a rustic country wedding venue on ten acres of bushland and gardens at Takura, ten minutes inland from Hervey Bay. It has been part of the Fraser Coast since the early 1980s, carries Cobb & Co heritage, and came under new ownership on 29 August 2025 — Tye and Katie, Lauren and Joe, who run it as a family operation. The look is barn timber, festoon light and native bush, and the venue leans into it: its own list of what it does best runs rustic, country, boho, marquee and “moody”.

Setting & Style

Five distinct spaces, and you pick a ceremony one and a reception one. The Sanctuary sits beside a pond with a hardwood arbour and hardwood pews. The Garden is ceremony only — lawn, native gardens, a rustic footbridge and a waterfall. The Pavilion is a 12m × 15m open-sided structure with solid timber floors, chandeliers, a private bar, jasmine at the entrance and festoon lighting, with a firepit for cold nights. The Coachhouse Saloon is a barn-style bar room with exposed beams and a Western influence, and the Loft above it — bookable only with the Saloon — overlooks the stables. A resident palomino grazes the paddocks and turns up in the photographs.

Ideal For

Couples who want ceremony, photographs and reception in one place, and who want the day to themselves: the venue promises complete exclusivity — “no other events, no compromises”. It scales from an intimate 60 seated in the Loft or the Sanctuary to 200 standing under the Pavilion. In-house styling is part of the offer rather than an afterthought — there is a styling consultation, standard ceremony inclusions down to biodegradable confetti cones, and reception inclusions covering centrepieces, barrels, cake and card tables, cloths and numbers.

The Need-to-Knows

No prices are published anywhere, including in the 20-page 2025 packages guide — everything is quoted after a consultation. Receptions must finish by 10.30pm, with five hours of private use standard and an hourly fee beyond that. There is no accommodation on site; the venue recommends Hervey Bay, ten minutes away. It is licensed and BYO alcohol is not permitted, though BYO catering is, and outside caterers and vendors are allowed with prior approval and a fee. Check the capacity of your chosen space directly: the website and the current packages guide disagree on three of the five rooms.

The 20-page Wedding Packages Guide dated 27 October 2025 is current and quotable but carries no figures at all — every cost is deferred to a consultation and an emailed quote. WHAT THE STANDARD INCLUSIONS COVER, by space: THE SANCTUARY — private use for up to 3 hours, hardwood arbour, 10 hardwood pews, signing table and chairs, amenities. THE GARDEN — private use for 3 hours, hardwood arbour, up to 50 walnut Tiffany chairs, signing table and chairs, amenities. THE PAVILION — private use for up to 5 hours, outdoor festoon lighting, private bar with TWO BAR STAFF, amenities. THE COACHHOUSE SALOON — private use for up to 5 hours, private bar with two bar staff, amenities. THE LOFT — private use for up to 5 hours, and only available when booking the Saloon. CEREMONY STYLING standard inclusions: a large corner floral garland for the arbour, arbour draping, a medium floral arrangement for the welcome sign, an aisle feature of natural wood logs and greenery, a customised welcome sign with a choice of three stands including custom vinyl names and date, and a rose petal or confetti bundle of 25 filled biodegradable cones with tray.
