Sofi & Flora is Sophie’s boutique wedding and event studio at Airlie Beach, working across the Whitsundays. She began her floristry career in 2010 under one of Queensland’s top wedding florists and has built her own methods and a set of working relationships with Whitsunday wedding suppliers since. The portfolio runs to nearly forty weddings, each filed under the bride’s name.

Style & Signature Blooms

The work spans classic white orchid and rose cascades through to full tropical palettes of birds of paradise, singapore orchids and palm, which is unusual range for a studio this size. Sophie will build a loose, garden-picked look on request, while pointing out that the unstructured style takes more hidden work than a formal one, not less.

Couples marrying anywhere in the Whitsundays who want one designer working with them directly rather than choosing from a list. Sophie prefers to work one on one and quotes against what the couple actually wants, so there is no package to fit into.

The Need-to-Knows

Flowers are delivered on the wedding day unless the coordinator has arranged to collect them. Quotes are built per wedding, and choosing blooms that are in season at the time is the studio’s own advice for keeping the cost down. Buttonholes for fathers and corsages for mothers are still the norm here.

Standout Feature

Sophie publishes which flowers she will try to talk a couple out of. Some blooms simply do not survive the tropical humidity, and rather than take the order quietly she warns couples in advance so the flowers do not wilt on the day - while making clear she will still use them if the couple insists. She also builds bouquets to be carried for up to eight hours, which is the kind of specification most florists never put in writing.
