Calèche Bridal & Couture
About
Overview & Vibe
Calèche is a couture house rather than a stockist: it designs and makes every gown it sells in its own Norwood boutique and South Australian workroom. That is the whole proposition — a bride can start with a gown off the rack and end with something drawn for her from scratch, in the same building, with the people who will sew it.
Dress Styles & Designers
Five in-house collections: Classic Calèche (48 gowns, the largest), In Wonderland (21), Intermission (18), Une Vie D'amour (12) and La Dolce Vita (8), plus a separate veil range. There is no third-party label in the building.
Ideal For
The bride who wants a gown that does not exist yet, and the bride who wants a fit that off-the-rack will not give her. Because the workroom is on site, the boundary between 'alteration' and 'redesign' is unusually soft — the boutique's own framing is that you find a shape you love and then customise it into a bespoke gown.
The Need-to-Knows
Four published service levels. Ready-to-Wear is completed in a standard size on about a four-month production timeline. Made-to-Measure adds a custom pattern, three or four fittings and the adjustments for $2,000 on top of the gown. Bespoke is a custom design developed with a couture designer and begins with a detailed sketch. Couture starts at $10,000 and includes exclusive two-hour appointments and as many fittings as required. Made-to-measure, bespoke and couture all run around three to four fittings, roughly an hour each, in a private room on weekdays 9–5. The whole fitting process runs 8–12 months, and the boutique recommends starting at least a year out.
Standout Feature
It publishes the price of the service, not just the dress. Most couture houses quote on application; Calèche tells you that made-to-measure costs $2,000 over the gown and that couture starts at $10,000, before you make an appointment. Sample and ready-to-wear gowns start around $2,500 and made-to-measure gowns run $4,000–$10,000.

Dress Designers
- Calèche Bridal & Couture. Description: The house's own and only label. Dress Experience
- Calèche publishes four service levels and lets a bride move between them. Ready-to-Wear gowns are completed in a standard size on a production timeline of about four months. Made-to-Measure adds a custom pattern, three or four fittings and the adjustments for $2,000 on top of the gown price. Bespoke is a custom design developed in collaboration with a couture designer and begins with a detailed sketch. Couture starts at $10,000 and includes exclusive two-hour appointments and as many fittings as required. Made-to-measure, bespoke and couture gowns each involve around three to four fittings of approximately one hour, held in a private room Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. The boutique works with brides across an eight to twelve month fitting process and recommends starting at least a year before the wedding.
