The Bride Lab
About
Overview & Vibe
The Bride Lab is Adelaide's designer bridal boutique for the bride who wants something no one else in South Australia is carrying — and it means that literally: every label it stocks is exclusive to it in SA. Owner Laura started it after failing to find a dress she loved for her own Adelaide wedding, leaving a twelve-year medical science career to do it. The boutique is open by appointment for one-on-one styling, and the tone it sets is explicit: 'We aren't pushy and not into sales'.
Dress Styles & Designers
Twelve permanent collections plus ongoing trunk shows: KYHA Bride, Rue De Seine, Alena Leena, Georgia Young, Grace Loves Lace, Daalarna Couture, Eva Lendel, Anna Kara, Jenny Yoo, Hera Couture, Saint Bridal, Ingrid Olić and Alyssa Kristin. The house style is simple, elegant and modern rather than traditional — free-spirited and architectural rather than beaded and structured. Accessories run to veils and jewellery by French designer Maison Sabben.
Ideal For
The modern or free-spirited bride shopping designer labels, and — importantly — the curve bride. The Bride Lab keeps a dedicated Curve Collection available to try on in sizes 16 to 24, and its sample range runs 10 to 26 overall, which is unusually broad for a designer boutique of this tier.
The Need-to-Knows
Appointment only. Weekday appointments are complimentary; Saturday bookings carry a $30 fee. An appointment runs one hour, enough for about six gowns, with a dedicated consultant helping with selection, dressing and styling. Four guests fit comfortably; larger groups book the VIP appointment, which comes with a bottle of South Australian sparkling and extended time. Bridal sizing runs small, and the boutique says so up front. If a bride wants a specific gown from a stocked designer that is not in the room, the boutique will often bring it in.
Standout Feature
It publishes a price guide for every designer it carries. Grace Loves Lace approximately $2,500–$4,000; Jenny Yoo $2,500–$4,000; Eva Lendel $2,750–$6,000; Hera Couture $3,500–$5,500; Rue De Seine $4,000–$7,000; Daalarna, Anna Kara and Saint Bridal $4,500–$6,500; Ingrid Olić $4,500–$7,000; Alena Leena $4,500–$7,500; KYHA $4,500–$8,000; Georgia Young $6,500–$8,000. A bride can pick her designer by budget before she books.
