Wedding Photographers · Daylesford / Macedon Ranges, Victoria
Clair Derwort photographs weddings from a rural property in the Macedon Ranges, where she lives with, in her own words, a best friend, a menagerie of kids and a lot of animals. She has been photographing for over a decade and is also an award-winning horticulturalist — which is not a footnote, because she grows roses and runs a micro flower farm, and will do the wedding florals as well if you ask her.
She describes her work as documentary photography that catches the candid moments — the small details that look like the everyday but, she says, hold all the magic. For anyone who dreads being photographed, and she counts herself among them, she offers gentle guidance rather than direction. Her stated aim is pictures that become family heirlooms.
Couples in the Macedon Ranges and across regional Victoria, and she travels further when asked. The range here is unusually wide: full wedding collections at one end, and at the other a tailored elopement built around however much time you actually want, which she offers specifically for couples on a budget who still want the pictures to look expensive.
Two wedding collections are published in full: $7,600 buys a planning consultation, five hours of coverage, edited images in an online ordering gallery, high-resolution files for printing, a fine art linen-bound album and a keepsake USB in a linen dust box; $9,900 is the same with nine hours. Elopements are quoted individually from $1,200, priced on travel and time, and can be as short as an hour. Extra hours and a second photographer are both quoted on request, and each collection stays valid for 24 months. Ask how long the finished images take to arrive, because no timeframe is published.
The flower farm. Very few photographers can also supply the roses, and for a couple wanting one less supplier to brief it is a genuinely useful thing to be able to ask about.
