Wedding Photographers · Daylesford / Macedon Ranges, Victoria
Paul is a wedding photographer who works only in the Daylesford and Hepburn Springs country, and the whole listing follows from that one decision. He knows the region’s wedding venues and reception houses the way a local knows them, naming Sault, the Convent and the Lakehouse among the places he works, and he photographs the landscape they sit in as carefully as he photographs the couple. Spa-country weddings are the whole of the business rather than a line within it.
The work is candid country wedding photography, with posed frames made alongside the unguarded ones rather than instead of them. Across a single day that means the quiet moment before the ceremony, the ceremony itself, the walk through autumn trees and the room full of people afterwards, all in the same warm, unfussy register. The galleries run set by set through real weddings, so what a couple sees is how a whole day looks in his hands.
Couples marrying in and around Daylesford, Hepburn Springs and the wider spa country who want one photographer for the day rather than a team, and who would rather meet the person taking the pictures over a coffee first. The single offering suits a wedding that runs from getting ready through to the early part of the reception, and it is deliberately flexible for couples whose day is shaped differently.
One published offering, $1,850, covering 6.5 hours and delivering up to 150 colour-corrected, edited images. Photographs arrive both digitally and on a physical USB, sized separately for print and for social media, with a password-protected online gallery to share with family and friends. Paul takes enquiries by phone as readily as by email.
He works one region and only that region, which is rarer than it sounds — most photographers who rank for a country town are travelling to it. The difference shows in the frames: he knows which drive turns gold in April and which hedge and jetty will hold a couple at the end of the day.
