Kangaroobie
About
Overview & Vibe
Kangaroobie is a 150-year-old farm on 2,500 acres of coastal country at Princetown, five minutes from the Twelve Apostles. It sells one thing and prices it plainly: a two-night, whole-property wedding weekend for $9,900, with beds for up to 190 people and no curfew.
Setting & Style
A large pine-lined dining hall with a four-sided sunken fireplace at its centre and views out over the Gellibrand River and the Great Otway National Park. Rustic sheds, manicured lawns, and a courtyard BBQ. The hall is explicitly a “blank canvas” — you decorate it yourself.
Ideal For
Couples who want everyone to stay, nobody to drive, and the whole weekend rather than a five-hour reception — and who are happy to bring in their own caterer.
The Need-to-Knows
- One package, one price: $9,900 total. Venue hire runs 12pm Friday to 3pm Sunday and includes accommodation for up to 190 guests, the commercial kitchen for self-catering throughout the stay, and no curfew. An extra night is $25 per person, checkout 9am.
- You cater it. “A fully-equipped commercial kitchen is available to use for your catering. We can suggest excellent local caterers or you are welcome to bring your own.” Nothing is catered by the venue, so no per-head figure exists.
- No curfew, and the venue says so twice. “Escape the strict venue requirements of the city and have a curfew-free celebration” — with everyone sleeping within walking distance of the dance floor.
- Function rooms seat up to 190, with room for a dance floor, bar and band; the accommodation figure is the same 190.
- It is remote and that is the point. Three hours from Melbourne, five minutes from the Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge, with the whole 2,500 acres open for photographs.
- Indoor and outdoor options for both ceremony and reception; an in-house sound system with Bluetooth if you would rather not bring a band.
Standout Feature
A four-sided sunken fireplace in the middle of the dining hall — and a price you can read in one line.

Price Notes
- ONE PACKAGE, ONE TOTAL, PUBLISHED IN FULL: 'Wedding Package - Two-night wedding package includes: Venue hire from 12pm Friday to 3pm Sunday. Opportunity to create your own theme from a blank canvas. Accommodation available for up to 190 guests. No curfew. Fully-equipped commercial kitchen available for self-catering throughout your stay. Total Cost - $9,900. For guests wishing to extend their stay for another night - additional cost $25 per person. Checkout time 9am.' That is the entire pricing page, and it is a rare thing in this campaign: a single all-in figure with the inclusions listed beside it.
- $9,900 IS THE VENUE, NOT THE WEDDING. Catering, drinks, styling and any hired furniture are on top and are the couple's arrangement: 'Please contact us for list of local suppliers including catering, decorations, alternative nearby accommodation etc.' price_per_head is NULL because the venue does not cater - 'A fully-equipped commercial kitchen is available to use for your catering. We can suggest excellent local caterers or you are welcome to bring your own.' dietary_options_supported is NULL for the same reason.
- THE HIRE WINDOW IS THE PRODUCT: 12pm Friday to 3pm Sunday. The venue sells the shape of the weekend explicitly: 'You and your guests can celebrate for the whole weekend. Spend a relaxed Friday decorating the large dining hall. Invite your wedding party to enjoy a quiet evening before the big day, catching up while sitting around the four-sided sunken fireplace. Prepare a lazy Sunday brunch for your guests on the courtyard BBQ.'
- NO CURFEW, STATED TWICE: 'Party all night without having to drive anywhere... Escape the strict venue requirements of the city and have a curfew-free celebration at Kangaroobie.' And: 'Celebrate without a curfew. Bring in a band or DJ, or provide your own music using the in-house sound system with Bluetooth connectivity.' For a wedding where every guest sleeps on site, that is a materially different night from a venue with an 11pm music cut-off.
- THE PRICE IS UNDATED. The package page carries no season label, no validity window and no PDF - it is a live HTML page, so there is no ModDate to check either. Recorded as published, with the absence of a date noted, per the standing rule for HTML rate cards.
- GUEST ACCOMMODATION IS INCLUDED BUT NOT THE ONLY OPTION: 'There is also a large range of nearby accommodation available that can be booked separately by your guests if they choose to stay elsewhere.'
- THE HOSTS ARE NAMED AND CONTACTABLE DIRECTLY: 'Your hosts: Matt & Sophie Bowker', phone 03 5598 8151 or 0427 101 870. The postal address given is 'Kangaroobie Weddings, Great Ocean Road, Princetown, Victoria 3269' - a locality address rather than a street number, which is what the venue publishes.
