Paperlust is a Melbourne wedding and event stationery company, founded in 2014, that prints every order in its own Melbourne studio. Its wedding range runs to more than 500 invitation designs, each created by an independent artist and then personalised by the couple in an online design tool. A designer checks every order and sends a proof before anything prints. It works at the scale of an online print shop rather than a one-person atelier, and engagement, birthday and baby shower stationery sits alongside the wedding range.

Style & Printing

Six print methods are listed for wedding invitations: digital, metallic, white ink, flat foil, letterpress and foil stamping. Embossing is offered as well, through the studio’s printing service. Cards are printed on matte, linen, premium, kraft, vellum, blush and colour stocks, with Wild Cotton in 300gsm and 600gsm for letterpress and foil stamping. Designs range from clean minimal and typographic layouts to hand-illustrated Australian botanicals, and arch and other die-cut shapes are available. Couples can also modify an existing design, commission one from scratch, or have the studio print artwork they already own.

Consultations at the Melbourne head office are by appointment, and studio visits to see paper stocks and print methods can be booked through the website.
Visits are optional, as sample packs can be ordered by post instead.

Booking & Deposit

Delivery & Postage

Free StarTrack Premium delivery on every Australian order with no minimum spend, usually next business day to metro areas after dispatch; regional and rural addresses need extra time.
International orders ship by DHL Express in two to four business days after dispatch, free on orders of US$350 or more and otherwise a flat US$27.50 per order.
For orders to the United States the studio pays import duties and taxes in advance, while customers in the UK, Canada and Europe pay their own local duties and taxes.
Click and collect from the Melbourne studio can be selected at checkout, between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
Orders ship to one delivery address; the studio does not post invitations to guests, so the couple assembles and posts them after delivery.

Per-Piece Pricing

Digital print wedding invitations are $2.80 per card at a quantity of 100, with white envelopes included.
When printing supplied artwork, digital print falls from $4.14 per card at 50 cards to $2.12 per card at 150 cards.
Envelope address printing starts from $0.20 per envelope.
Coloured premium envelopes start from $1.10 each, while premium white envelopes are included free.

Price Notes

Prices depend on the design, print method, paper, quantity, size and whether the card is printed on one or both sides.
Per-card prices fall as the quantity rises, so a larger order costs less per card.
Quoted examples include premium white envelopes, while coloured envelopes and envelope liners are paid upgrades.
Ordering three or more card types together takes 15% off, and new customers receive $20 off a first order on sign-up.
Custom monograms and maps are quoted from $75 and custom illustrations from $100, while text, colour and font changes are free.
A custom design covers up to three pieces, and each further piece is $25 for a menu, table numbers, bar sign or RSVP card or $50 for place cards, a program or a seating chart.
Print-only jobs for supplied artwork are paid in full before proofing, and preparing a file that is not print ready starts from $75.
Printing a different guest name on each menu card is $0.40 per card.
A sample pack is $5, a full swatch kit is $20, and a custom sample of a chosen design printed on chosen paper is $15, though not available for letterpress.
There are no change-of-mind refunds once a proof is approved, though before approval the order value can move to store credit.

Proofs & Revisions

A designer reviews the personalised design and emails a digital proof within one to two working days of ordering.
Unlimited rounds of edits are included on standard printed invitation orders, and an updated proof usually returns within one working day.
Text, colour and font changes are free, and switching to a different Paperlust design during proofing costs nothing.
Nothing prints until the proof is approved; a text error approved on the proof is not a print fault, though the studio helps fix it and shares the reprint cost.
The envelope proof shows the font, size and position of the addressing, not every guest address.
A print quality guarantee covers printing faults, damage and defects when a claim is made within 30 days of dispatch.

Turnaround Time

Production is counted from proof approval: three to five working days for digital print, white ink and metallic print, seven to ten for flat foil and twenty to twenty-three for letterpress and foil stamping.
Rush printing at a flat $50 per order brings digital print and white ink to one to two working days and flat foil to three to five; it is not available for letterpress, foil stamping or vellum paper.
Wedding invitations are best ordered twelve to sixteen weeks before the wedding, and sixteen or more weeks ahead for letterpress or foil stamping.
An order can be held with no penalty until the wedding date is confirmed, then printed.
