Grace Dovaston works out of a natural-light studio at her home in Warracknabeal, in Victoria’s Wimmera, and photographs weddings across the wheat country, the Grampians and down to Bendigo. The published weddings run from a bush ceremony at the Wander Inn at Wartook to a paddock full of hot-pink bridesmaids under a grey Wimmera sky, and the tone throughout is warm, unfussy and a long way from formal.

Style & Approach

She describes her style as super natural, and is explicit about method: she will prompt you but rarely pose you, aiming for some smiling-at-the-camera frames without making them the point, and otherwise capturing people as they interact. Outdoor sessions are timed for golden hour — the hour before sunset or after sunrise — because that is where she wants the light.

Ideal For

Couples anywhere between an elopement for two and a full day with a large bridal party, and particularly those marrying in the Wimmera or the Grampians who would rather not import a photographer and pay for the drive. The elopement collections are real products rather than afterthoughts, and there is a genuinely small entry point for a ceremony-only booking.

Mini is up to six hours of continuous coverage, Midi up to eight, and Max is eight hours or more and adds a linen-cover twenty-four page album and an engagement couple shoot. Every collection includes a digital photo gallery, a keepsake USB and a pre-wedding consultation. The smaller elopement is ceremony coverage with a gallery and USB; the larger adds couple portraits on location and the album. Custom collections are quoted on enquiry. Travel is charged at a dollar a kilometre with the first sixty kilometres included, measured from either Warracknabeal or Bendigo, and prints, framed prints and further albums can be bought on top.
