About

Overview & Vibe

The Bloomery is a florist and a micro flower farm at once. Bianca, the owner and creative director, lives on a ten-acre hobby farm in the volcanic country at Koroit, where the flowers are grown among vegetables, fruit and native vegetation as part of a permaculture system. Millie joins for larger events, bringing a marketing and event-management career plus floristry learned in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. The two met volunteering at the Port Fairy Women’s Weekend and co-hosted a flower arranging workshop.

Style & Signature Blooms

Seasonal and textural, built from what the ground gives. Bianca names Australian natives and South African proteas as her favourites, particularly the more unusual varieties, and mixes them with tulips, roses and dahlias; she says the airy or textural element is often her favourite part of a bouquet and that she values foliage as much as the blooms. Millie brings lush tropicals, magnolia, twisted willow, moss and dodder vine to larger installations.

Ideal For

Couples marrying across South West Victoria who want flowers grown nearby rather than flown in, and who care how the work is put together. The studio is foam-free by choice, and for couples willing to be flexible on flower type and colour it offers to source everything locally.

The Need-to-Knows

Weddings start with a form or an email listing the items wanted, the details of the day and a few inspiration pictures. The enquiry asks for a budget band, the lowest of which is described as bouquets only. An itemised guide to common wedding items is published, described by the studio as approximate. A delivery and labour charge is added on the day, and pack-down is available for an additional fee.

Standout Feature

The sourcing order is stated outright and in priority: locally grown flowers first, then other Australian grown blooms where needed. Behind it sits an actual growing operation - an expanding picking garden of annuals, perennials, natives and proteas that the studio says do particularly well in the volcanic Koroit soil - plus relationships with other flower farms in the same district.

  • Enquiries to Bianca on 0408 843 317 or by email to bloomeryco@gmail.com.
