Andrew Burns photographed his first wedding in 2004 and has worked solo ever since, out of Beeliar in Perth’s south. He describes his own work as documentary and reportage, and he is unusually direct about the commercial side: four coverage lengths with prices attached, a per-hour rate for anything beyond them, and a straight answer to almost every question a couple could ask.

Style & Approach

Documentary and candid, with posed portraits treated as a normal part of the day rather than a compromise. He sets aside time after the ceremony for family and group photographs, on the reasoning that it keeps everyone happy. He has won awards and is dismissive about them, taking the view that in this trade you are only as good as your last wedding.

Ideal For

Perth couples who want the numbers up front and one photographer rather than a team. He works alone by preference and says so plainly, though he will bring a second shooter if the logistics of a day demand it. Two-hour coverage exists for something small, and ten hours for a full day, so the range is genuinely wide. He photographs same-sex couples.

The Need-to-Knows

Two hours is $1,500, four is $2,000, seven is $2,900 and ten is $3,700, with extra hours at $330 each. The two-hour option is not available on weekends between October and April. Galleries take around four weeks, longer in peak season, and hold 700 to 1,200 finished images. Travel is surcharged beyond 150 kilometres. He does not shoot video and will refer you to people who do.

The files come without restrictions. High-resolution print-ready images sit in a password-protected gallery you can download from, share with whoever you like, and take to any printer you choose. His own words on it are that they are your photos, do what you want. Handmade albums are made to order separately, with the couple choosing every spread.

Appointment Policy

Meetings are by appointment, weekdays from ten in the morning to seven at night.
Appointments can be held over video call for couples outside the Perth metropolitan area.

Photography Packages
