Lisa Watson lives by the ocean at Halls Head, just south of Mandurah, and photographs weddings across the Peel coast, up through Perth and down to the Margaret River region. The published work is warm and daylight-driven: couples on the estuary foreshore at dusk, a bride walking a bush track under gum trees, sparklers and a dance floor, a heritage stone homestead with white chairs set out on the lawn. Dogs turn up often, and she says outright that she encourages it.
She describes her own work as telling your story in a natural, authentic and relaxed way, and the pictures bear it out - a mix of gently guided portraits and moments nobody arranged, with the in-between bits given as much weight as the set pieces. She shoots two full-frame bodies on a harness with prime lenses and dual cards writing at once, and brings lighting for dim receptions. Her accreditation is an Associate Level Professional Photographer badge from the International Portrait Masters, and her wedding work has taken bronze awards there in 2022 and 2023.
Couples marrying anywhere between Mandurah and Margaret River who want one photographer for both ends of that coast without a travel line on the invoice. A non-refundable retainer holds the date and the balance falls due fourteen days out. She does not discount, and says why.
There is no travel fee anywhere from Perth to Margaret River. For a photographer based at Halls Head that covers the entire stretch of coast most Western Australian couples are choosing between, and it is the rare case of a distance clause that costs the couple nothing instead of something.
