Annabel’s has been dressing Canberra brides for more than 21 years, and its founder Misty Annabel tells the origin story herself: she dreamt of a bridal boutique in Kingston at the age of thirteen and opened one nine years later. It has since moved to a new boutique in Manuka — private styling areas, an exclusive bridal suite, and an approach the studio describes as authentic and personalised rather than transactional.

Dress Styles & Designers

Eight houses, curated rather than accumulated: Hera Couture (NZ), Rosa Clará (Spain), Martina Liana, Jack Sullivan Bridal, Watters and WTOO by Watters (USA), Stella York, All Who Wander, and Wendy Makin including her French Collection. The look runs modern and romantic — sculpted lace bodices, corset backs, sheer sleeves, fringed and beaded detail, and a bridal jumpsuit or two.

Ideal For

The bride who wants to know what a gown costs before she falls in love with it. Annabel’s publishes a price range for every single designer it carries — seven ranges, on one page — which almost nobody in this directory does. It also suits the bride who cares as much about the fit as the frock: alterations are done in-house by Misty and Susan, who between them have over 40 years in fitting, tailoring, beading and pressing.

The Need-to-Knows

Appointments are essential, and the studio is closed Sundays, Mondays and public holidays. Gowns run $2,000 to $6,500+. Alterations are a separate, published cost: the Couture Tailoring packages are $850 basic, $850 express and $1,000 signature, with a 50% deposit at the first fitting — budget for it. Two payment routes on a special order: 50% deposit plus two or three monthly instalments, or pay in full and take 10% off the gown.

Appointment Policy

Appointments are essential.
The studio is closed Sundays, Mondays and public holidays.
Appointments are booked through the studio's own online booking system, with email enquiries invited if no suitable time appears.
Every appointment is described as tailored to the individual bride, in private styling areas and an exclusive bridal suite.
Tailoring appointments are exclusively for Annabel's brides and are booked on the bride's behalf when her gown is confirmed for delivery.
For privacy and to give full attention, tailoring appointments take place on a weekday, with a reminder text a few days before each one.
Brides are asked to bring the undergarments they plan to wear -- a supportive bra or shapewear -- to each fitting appointment.
Limited-time designer showings, such as an exclusive Watters collection, are held in the private Manuka suite by appointment.

Alterations are carried out in-house as a signature Couture Tailoring service by Misty and Susan, who have over 40 years of combined experience in fitting, tailoring, beading, pressing and quality control, sold as flat-rate packages and booked on the bride's behalf when her gown is confirmed for delivery.

Price Notes

A price range is published for every designer carried: Hera Couture $2,800-$6,000, Rosa Clara $2,600-$6,000, Martina Liana $2,400-$5,500, Jack Sullivan Bridal $2,300-$4,600, Watters $3,000-$5,000, Stella York $2,100-$2,900, All Who Wander $2,800-$4,100.
Alterations are charged as flat-rate Couture Tailoring packages: Basic $850, Express Service $850, and Signature $1,000, the last including custom changes such as adding cap or long sleeves.
A minimum 50% deposit is required at the first tailoring appointment, with the balance at the final fitting; further adjustments or extra fittings increase the package price.
On a special-order gown there are two payment routes: a 50% deposit with two or three monthly instalments from a nominated card, or payment in full for 10% off the gown.
A gown bought off the floor must be paid in full, and the studio offers a discount plus a complimentary dry clean before the wedding or collection.
Accepted payment methods are Visa, Mastercard and direct deposit.
The studio runs a standing Sale Dresses collection of ex-floor and discontinued gowns.
