Aura is a by-appointment bridal studio in the arcade on Terrigal Esplanade, a few steps from the beach. Bianca opened it after seven years styling in fashion retail and after her own wedding-dress search, and built it around the idea that choosing a gown should feel as considered as the gown itself. The studio is light filled and calm, and it is yours alone for the length of your appointment.
Four designers, chosen rather than collected: Hera Couture from New Zealand for sculptural tailoring and its Curve Collection, Wona Concept from Europe for striking silhouettes and intricate detail, Moira Hughes handmade in Sydney for signature corsetry, and Jenny Yoo from New York for clean lines and soft draping. Fifty gowns are named across the four, from structured ball gowns to fluid crepe columns, with corset-and-skirt separates and capes among them.
A bride who wants an unhurried, styling-led fitting rather than a busy showroom, and who is drawn to modern design with real construction behind it. Central Coast and Newcastle brides, and Sydney brides happy to make the drive for a studio that sees one bride at a time.
Appointment, no walk-ins, and a booking fee applies that comes off your gown if you buy on the day. Your first appointment runs 60 to 75 minutes and a second visit is free. Bring up to two guests. Every gown is made to order, so start looking around twelve months out and decide eight to ten months out; gowns take five to eight months to make, and rush options exist for a fee. Alterations are almost always needed and are not included in the gown price.
Sample gowns are held in to 14 and every order is then made in your closest size, so what you try on is close to what you will wear. Hera Couture’s Curve Collection is cut for fuller figures rather than graded up from a sample.
