Brides of Central Coast is a private, appointment-only studio at Crangan Bay, on the southern shore of Lake Macquarie and, as it puts it, “conveniently positioned between Sydney and Newcastle”. It trades as Brides of Central Coast, by Brides of Australia, and is owned by Charlene Coetzee, who started it in 2011 after her own dress search: “what started in 2011 as a personal search for the perfect wedding dress has grown into something truly special.” The full street address is given once your booking is confirmed — part of keeping the studio genuinely one-on-one.
Almost 300 sample dresses from 11 labels, among them Melory, Nox Anabel, Ladivine by Cinderella Divine, Herawhite Bridal, Andrea & Leo Couture and the studio’s own Unique Bridal Collection. The shop is browsable by exactly the things brides search for — A-Line, Fitted, Plain/Minimalist, Lace, Long Sleeves, Boho, Colourful Floral, Separates (top and skirt) — plus a dedicated Curvy Collection and a collection.
Brides on a real budget: 255 of the 349 gowns listed, and the range tops out a number of gowns carrying an RRP as high as are currently reduced to that. Also for brides who want to buy the sample and take it home, for anyone shopping from interstate or overseas (the site is built for online orders and ships worldwide), and for anyone who wants a whole studio to themselves rather than a shop floor.
Appointments are Saturdays and Sundays, 8am–5pm, bookable up to five weeks ahead, one hour per client per day with no back-to-back bookings. The first consultation is free; a follow-up is credited toward your purchase and waived if you order within five days. Up to three adult guests, and the studio asks that children under 10 don’t attend. Ordering takes a non-refundable deposit, production runs 6–20 weeks, and the balance is due before the designer releases the gown. Check the shop tab for sample sizes before booking — not every design is stocked in every size.
The pricing is unusually legible for bridal. Every gown carries a number on the website, that number is the price of a new dress made in your size, and the sample you tried is offered separately and cheaper. Most boutiques publish nothing and quote in the room; this one publishes 349 gowns with prices, tells you which sizes it actually has to try on, and runs a permanent under- rail underneath it all.
