Banksia Orange
About
Overview & Vibe
Banksia Orange is a purpose-built events venue on the Mitchell Highway just outside Orange, set among the Central West vineyards with the mountains behind. It is the sister operation to The Union Bank, and food is the point: executive chef Dom Aboud designs the menus, the wine list leans on Orange and Millthorpe producers, and the venue describes itself as a destination “for food enthusiasts who demand exceptional service”. This is the largest wedding venue in the region by some distance.
Setting & Style
Two spaces. The Pavilion is the big room — a stage, an enormous dance floor, its own bar and bathrooms, a breakout room for a photobooth or a quiet couch, and an outdoor paved area for canapés, all looking over the vineyards and mountains, with numerous ceremony locations in the gardens. The Terrace is the intimate alternative: a private bar and an outdoor patio for sunsets over the vines. Both are modern, glass-walled and light-filled rather than rustic.
Ideal For
Weddings that are too large for a cellar door. The Pavilion seats 100–350 and takes up to 600 for cocktails; the Terrace covers 50–100 seated. Very little else in Orange reaches those numbers. It also suits couples who want the catering to be the headline — the packages are built around a chef’s seasonal menu with matched beverage tiers, and an onsite venue manager is included for events of 100 or more.
The Need-to-Knows
Pricing is published and current (March 2026): seated dining from $120 per head for entrée, main and sides, or $130 with dessert; canapés $60–$80 per head by selection; four-hour beverage packages at $95, $105 or $120 per head. Add-ons are itemised, including barista coffee at $7 per head plus a $200 machine hire. On dietary needs the venue is candid: it marks vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free, accommodates vegan on request, but states its kitchen handles nuts, shellfish and gluten and “cannot guarantee that our food will be allergen free”. There is no accommodation on site — ask them for recommendations in Orange.
Standout Feature
Scale with a view. A 350-seat room that still has floor-to-ceiling glass onto the vineyard, its own bar and bathrooms, a real stage and a dance floor sized for the room — in a region where most wedding venues top out around a hundred.

- CATERING IS BY THE UNION BANK, BANKSIA'S SISTER OPERATION, and the venue also caters OFF SITE — a separate 2027 Off-Site Weddings Package PDF, created the same day, covers delivering the same food and service to a venue of your choosing.
