Duntryleague
About
Overview & Vibe
Duntryleague is an 1876 mansion standing above an 18-hole championship golf course on the edge of Orange. Built for the Dalton family, it has private balconies, wrap-around verandas, a large stained glass window and a sweeping staircase, and the club that occupies it now runs weddings out of the house and its grounds. It is, in the venue's own words, one of the most elegant landmarks in Orange — and the photographs bear that out: red brick and iron lacework lit at night, the fairway falling away below.
Setting & Style
Ceremonies go either on the manicured lawn at the front of the mansion or indoors in the Cedar Alderton room, which also takes the reception. For larger numbers the grounds carry a marquee — the venue's own photographs show a clear-roofed marquee on the fairway with wine barrels and stools. The mansion itself is the backdrop for photographs, and the botanical gardens around the guesthouse and the course give a lot of ground to work with.
Ideal For
Couples wanting a heritage house wedding in the Central West, at either end of the size range. The in-house offer is deliberately small — from an intimate 20 up to 80 — and the marquee covers everything above 100. It is well suited to couples marrying from out of town: the venue makes a point of its experience with Sydney couples, saying its events team will act as “your eyes and ears on the ground” and liaise with local suppliers on their behalf.
The Need-to-Knows
No pricing is published anywhere — everything runs through the events team. What is published in full is the Intimate Wedding Package's inclusions, and they are unusually complete: choice of ceremony location with a signing table, two chairs, floral decorations and up to 20 chairs indoors or out; then six hours of Cedar Alderton room hire, pre-reception charcuterie boards, a two-course menu, cake cutting and service, full room set-up with long dining table, crockery, cutlery, glassware and white linen, standard floral centrepieces, a one-hour bridal refreshment room, a cake display barrel and knife, personalised menus, beverage table service, placement of name cards and favours, a wishing well, a menu tasting for two, a wedding coordinator and event staff on the day. The marquee option is different in kind: tables, chairs and linen must come from the marquee company at extra cost, and the venue states its capacity is “dependent on size organised with the hire company” — so that number is not Duntryleague's to give. One accessibility point matters: the guesthouse has no disabled access because of the mansion's design, though the separate lodge is ground floor.
Standout Feature
You can sleep in the house. The 1876 guesthouse holds 14 ensuite rooms, from master suites down to smaller guest rooms, each named for a piece of the Dalton family's history — the ship that brought James Dalton to the colony, the Irish village he was born in. Very few Australian wedding venues let the party stay inside the landmark it was photographed against.

On Site Accommodation
- Yes, inside the 1876 mansion itself. The Duntryleague Guesthouse offers 14 rooms with ensuite bathrooms, from master suites to smaller guest suites, each named for the Dalton family's history — the Fairway, Galbally, Hive, Irish and Kangaroobie suites among them. All rooms have a television, refrigerator, hairdryer and tea/coffee facilities. Separately, the Margaret Dalton Lodge is a self-contained three-bedroom flat for couples, groups and families. Two caveats the venue states itself: "due to the mansion's design, there is no disabled access to the guesthouse, though the lodge offers ground-floor accessibility", and "The building's age adds to its charm, with the occasional creaky step or floorboard." Heritage Stay and Golf Stay packages are also published.
Price Notes
- No pricing is published; all enquiries route to the events team via an information-pack form. The inclusions, however, are published in full and are unusually detailed. INTIMATE WEDDING PACKAGE — ceremony: choice of the manicured lawn at the front of the mansion or the Cedar Alderton room inside it; signing table with 2 chairs; floral decorations; up to 20 outdoor white chairs or up to 20 indoor chairs. Reception: 6 hour room hire of the Cedar Alderton room; pre-reception charcuterie boards; a 2 course menu (entree/mains or mains/desserts); cutting of the wedding cake and service to guests; room set-up including long dining table, chairs, crockery, cutlery, glasses and standard white table linen; standard floral centrepieces; a bridal refreshment room for 1 hour; wedding cake display barrel with cake knife; personalised menus; beverage table service; placement of name cards and guest favours (supplied by the couple); a wishing well; a wedding menu tasting for 2 people by booking; a wedding coordinator through the planning process; and event staff on the day. COCKTAIL MARQUEE — materially different: "Tables, chairs and linen will need to be provided by the marquee company (fees apply)" and "Capacity: dependent on size organised with the hire company", so both the cost and the guest number sit with a third party rather than the venue.
