Heifer Station Wines
About
Overview & Vibe
Heifer Station is a working vineyard on The Escort Way at Borenore, ten minutes west of Orange, looking across the vines to Gaanha-Bula / Mount Canobolas. It is a farm first and a wedding venue second — alpacas on the hill, a century-old woolshed, a modern cellar door — and the estate takes the view that the whole property is available rather than one designated room.
Setting & Style
The venue describes “an unlimited number of stunning wedding location options, including picturesque hilltops, endless vines, rustic buildings and stunning views of Gaanha Bula — Mount Canobolas.” In practice the two poles are a white-top marquee pitched in the vineyard, lit with festoons and set with long tables between the vine rows, and dinner under the rafters of the historic woolshed. The cellar door handles tastings and smaller gatherings.
Ideal For
Couples who want a working-farm wedding in the Orange wine region with the vineyard itself as the room — and who are relaxed about building the day through an enquiry conversation rather than picking a package off a page.
The Need-to-Knows
- Nothing is priced and no capacity is published. Wedding packages exist but are quoted on enquiry. The enquiry form's own guest bands are the closest thing to a published scale: under 50, 50–100, or 100+ — so the venue works across all three, with no stated ceiling.
- The form also asks which parts of the day you want to talk about: ceremony, reception, recovery, accommodation and photos. A recovery event is explicitly part of the offer.
- Accommodation on site is one property, not a village. Loft House is a two-bedroom New York-style loft high on the hill over the vineyard, professionally managed by a third party. It sleeps the couple and a few others — guests stay in Orange.
- Loft House has stairs to both bedrooms and the venue says plainly to consider mobility before booking. The owners live next door, and the family cat may visit.
- The cellar door runs public tastings with a 10-guest minimum on tours and reserves indoor tastings for over-18s, so a wedding shares the property with normal trade unless otherwise arranged.
- The estate also runs a live music program, so check the events calendar against your date.
Standout Feature
A long table set between the vine rows under a white-top marquee, with Mount Canobolas behind it — or the same dinner under a hundred-year-old woolshed roof.

Price Notes
- NOTHING IS PRICED AND NO CAPACITY IS PUBLISHED. The weddings page carries no hire fee, per-head figure, package price, minimum spend or guest number, and no wedding PDF or brochure is linked. It closes: 'To enquire about one of our wedding packages please fill in the contact form.' Packages therefore exist but are quoted on enquiry.
- THE ENQUIRY FORM IS THE ONLY PUBLISHED SCALE, AND IT IS VENUE-AUTHORED. Its 'Minimum Guests' field offers three bands - 'Under 50', '50-100' and '100+' - which establishes that the venue works across all three sizes but sets no ceiling, so no capacity figure is recorded from it. The same form asks for a preferred date, whether the date is flexible, time of day (daytime, afternoon or evening), and which elements to discuss: 'Ceremony, Reception, Recovery, Accommodation, Photos'. A recovery event is explicitly part of the offer.
- ACCOMMODATION IS A SINGLE PROPERTY AND IS MANAGED BY A THIRD PARTY: 'Loft House is professionally managed by BNB Made Easy, so you can rest assured it will be sparkling clean, fresh, and ready for your stay.' No rate is published on this site; it is booked separately.
- THE PROPERTY TRADES WHILE YOU ARE THERE unless otherwise arranged. The cellar door runs public tastings with a stated 'Min. 10 Guests' on its Tour & Tasting, and notes 'Families are welcome outdoors; indoor tastings are reserved for guests aged 18+.' The estate also runs a live music and events program on its What's On page.
