Heifer Station is a working vineyard on The Escort Way at Borenore, ten minutes west of Orange, looking across the vines to Gaanha-Bula / Mount Canobolas. It is a farm first and a wedding venue second — alpacas on the hill, a century-old woolshed, a modern cellar door — and the estate takes the view that the whole property is available rather than one designated room.
The venue describes “an unlimited number of stunning wedding location options, including picturesque hilltops, endless vines, rustic buildings and stunning views of Gaanha Bula — Mount Canobolas.” In practice the two poles are a white-top marquee pitched in the vineyard, lit with festoons and set with long tables between the vine rows, and dinner under the rafters of the historic woolshed. The cellar door handles tastings and smaller gatherings.
Couples who want a working-farm wedding in the Orange wine region with the vineyard itself as the room — and who are relaxed about building the day through an enquiry conversation rather than picking a package off a page.
A long table set between the vine rows under a white-top marquee, with Mount Canobolas behind it — or the same dinner under a hundred-year-old woolshed roof.
