A family winery on The Escort Way west of Orange, thirty years old and run by winemaker Tom Ward. The Hill Park Vineyard and cellar door sit 900 metres up on ancient volcanic soil, looking across the undulating hills to Gaanha Bula–Mount Canobolas. Refined rather than rustic — this is a small, chef-led, sommelier-hosted room, not a barn.
Setting & Style
The cellar door is the venue: long tables under wide windows framing the valley, an outdoor garden for sunset drinks, and the vine rows a few steps away. Food comes from Head Chef Dave Wright and is built on Orange’s seasonal produce; the wine is poured by WSET-trained sommeliers, and museum bottles rarely available elsewhere come out for private groups.
Ideal For
Small weddings and receptions — an intimate seated dinner, or a cocktail party for up to eighty — where the food and wine matter more than the floor plan. Not a venue for a large marquee crowd.
The Need-to-Knows
- There are no wedding packages, and the venue says so plainly: “While we don’t offer set wedding packages, we consider each request on a case-by-case basis to ensure our space and offerings align with your vision.” That is unusually honest, and it means every wedding here starts with a conversation.
- The function formats carry hard numbers. Canapés 20–80 guests; share-style three courses 8–40; the five-course degustation 7–12. Eighty is the ceiling for anything here.
- Dietary requirements are handled on notice, but no list is published: “With prior notice, we can cater to most dietary requirements.”
- It is not a restaurant and does not take walk-ins for food. Everything is booked ahead.
- No dogs, and the venue states it does not hold outdoor tastings — though the outdoor garden is offered for canapé functions.
