Sam Riles is based on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, at Manly, and has been photographing weddings since 2015 — her first was for a close friend who gave her free rein, and she says she still loves it as much. She describes herself as a life romantic: curious, enthusiastic, a deep feeler. She also shoots commercial, lifestyle, portrait and personal branding work for brands, but weddings have their own gallery, their own FAQ, their own enquiry route and a published price, and she takes only a limited number each year.

Her own description is that the work sits somewhere between editorial and documentary, drawn to genuine, unposed moments. The line that captures it best is hers: I don’t create moments. I notice them well.
