WeddingsByTim is a Sydney wedding photographer who describes a wedding as one big party, and photographs it that way. He came to it sideways — a decade as a graphic designer, then years in the UK working alongside photographers who talked him into turning the hobby into the job — and the result is someone who would rather blend into the crowd than run it. Two example packages are published, and everything beyond them is built to order.
His own word for the approach is photojournalistic: think story teller. He aims to blend in with the guests, almost as though he is one of them with a big camera, so that people relax and forget he is there and the candid moments happen on their own — a laugh, a tear, some dance floor antics. There is no posing script and, in his words, no canned laughter or cheesy poses. Expect a bit of banter, and possibly a fence to climb.
Couples who tense up at the thought of a posed shoot, and who want the day to run as a party rather than a production. It also suits couples marrying well away from home: his published work runs from Sydney beaches and the Southern Highlands to the Blue Mountains, the South Coast, Tasmania and the snow, and on to Bali, Vietnam and the United States.
Pricing is built rather than chosen: you pick the hours, then add extras. The base example is $3,000 for six hours and the popular example is $5,350 for eight hours with a second photographer and an album. Both include a pre-wedding consultation, 600 to 800 edited images at high and web resolution, and an online gallery to share. A full cost breakdown is sent by email on enquiry.
Weddings within two hours of Sydney carry no travel cost at all, and further afield he charges no travel fee either — he asks instead that a night’s accommodation be covered. For a couple marrying in the Southern Highlands, the Blue Mountains or down the South Coast, that turns a common line item into nothing.
