About

Overview & Vibe

Luke Chisholm has worked as a full-time photographer for more than twelve years and lives on the outskirts of Wagga Wagga with his wife and three children. He photographs weddings across the Riverina and well beyond it, and reckons around half the weddings he shoots are more than a few hours from home. The published work runs from farm weddings outside Grong Grong to mountain-top ceremonies in New Zealand.

Style & Approach

He describes the work as creative documentary storytelling with a dash of fine art, and the way he shoots follows from that. He stays out of the way for most of the day, does not pose people in awkward positions, and will not ask a couple to cut the cake early or fake a bridal waltz so he can go home. Even the portrait time is spent waiting for natural expressions rather than arranging them. His stated aim is that everyone he spends the day with sees him as a friend who happens to have a camera.

Ideal For

Couples marrying around Wagga Wagga and the wider Riverina who want the day told as a story rather than a set of arranged pictures. The published weddings take in farm properties, the church of St Edwards of the Riverina, a warehouse reception in town, and estates a couple of hours out. Custom packages cover micro weddings, elopements and celebrations that run over more than one day, and he travels nationally and overseas.

The Need-to-Knows

Wedding packages run from around $3,500 to $6,000 depending on how long the day is covered and what is included. Every package brings a pre-wedding consultation, edited high-resolution JPEG files, a highlights slideshow video, and a secure online gallery with a print store. Booking takes a retainer and a signed contract, after which couples get a client portal and planning material. Weddings more than two hours from Wagga Wagga add fuel and accommodation if it is needed.

Standout Feature

The hand-bound fine art book. It is printed on museum-quality paper with archival inks and true lay-flat spreads, and the couple works through the design with him rather than receiving a finished layout — so the wedding reads in order, the way it happened.
