Lee-Ann Wilson has photographed weddings out of Bundaberg since 2009, and had already been running the business for eight years before that from the Sunshine Coast. She holds a Diploma of Photography and is a member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers. The work is unmistakably regional Queensland: hoop-pine plantations with the light coming down in bars, the Burnett River at dusk, Fraser Island sand, a rainbow over an empty beach at Elliott Heads, and a fair number of couples who arrive by vintage Ford, Kombi or turquoise Chevrolet.
Style & Approach
She describes her own style as contemporary with a touch of tradition and fun, and the galleries bear that out. Group portraits are formally arranged and properly lit rather than snatched, then the couple is taken away for something softer at golden hour. She speaks with every client before the day about locations, clothing, hair and makeup, and says she can advise on what will suit. Editing is finished in house — she works with one assistant, and between them they capture, create, edit and design the finished pieces themselves.
