Wedding Photographers · Cairns / Port Douglas, Queensland · By appointment
Nathan David Kelly has photographed weddings across Cairns, Port Douglas and Palm Cove for two decades, working under the promise he puts at the top of every page: one moment, one day, one photographer. He never subcontracts, so the person you meet is the person behind the camera on the day. Bookings for the 2026 and 2027 seasons are open, and the peak months of July, August and September are often taken more than a year ahead.
He describes his aim as capturing the day with beauty, care, a sense of humour and an eye for detail, to create timelessly elegant images. Three decades behind a camera and a Fine Arts degree from the University of Sydney sit behind that: he shoots on professional Canon bodies and L-series glass, and spends roughly twenty hours editing a single wedding so every frame arrives colour-corrected and print-ready.
Couples marrying anywhere between Port Douglas and Mission Beach who want one experienced photographer rather than a rotating team, and who value knowing the locations and the light in advance. The range runs from a compact elopement collection through to full-day coverage with a custom album, so both a quiet beach ceremony and a long reception are catered for.
Four collections are published, from $1,450 for an elopement-scale booking to $5,500 for ten hours with a magazine-style album. Coverage runs six to ten hours depending on the collection, images arrive within four to six weeks, and up to twenty sneak-peek frames land inside 24 hours. A non-refundable retainer secures the date, and card payments carry a small transaction fee.
His non-wedding work is held in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the National Portrait Gallery and the National Library of Australia. Very few wedding photographers anywhere bring that behind a camera on a Saturday afternoon.
