Gomersal Wines
About
Overview & Vibe
A historic Barossa winery on Lyndoch Road where the reception room is the point: the Barrel Room, named for the wall of barrels along one side, under corrugated iron and high timber beams, strung with fairy lights and hanging lanterns.
Setting & Style
Ceremonies happen under a glory-vine arbour or on the manicured lawns; a eucalyptus hardwood verandah wraps the front of the cellar door for canapés and cocktail hour; then the Barrel Room takes over for dinner on handcrafted long Oregon tables. The venue describes the transition directly: “As day turns to night, the venue is transformed into an elegant and romantic space framed by beautiful fairy lights and hanging lanterns.”
Ideal For
Barossa couples who want one property to carry the whole day, and who like the idea of eating dinner in front of a wall of barrels.
The Need-to-Knows
- The Barrel Room seats up to 130 and has its own private bar. The cellar door is the smaller indoor option, for groups up to 40.
- No pricing is published. A Wedding Package PDF exists but is sent on request; every dollar figure on the site is cellar-door tastings and platters.
- External caterers are allowed, but must supply an ABN and a Certificate of Currency. The winery also recommends several local caterers.
- The deposit is non-refundable and due fast — invoiced on booking, payable within 48 hours, and “Deposit and all subsequent money paid (as per T&C) is non refundable.”
- It declines some bookings outright: no hens or bucks parties, and usually no 18ths or 21sts unless they are family events.
Standout Feature
A reception under fairy lights against a wall of wine barrels.

Price Notes
- NO WEDDING PRICING IS PUBLISHED. The wedding package exists but is gated: 'To receive our Wedding Package PDF or a function quote, please complete the following form.' No per-head rate, room hire, minimum spend or package figure appears anywhere on the site.
- EVERY DOLLAR FIGURE ON THIS SITE IS CELLAR DOOR TRADE, NOT WEDDINGS, and is recorded here only so it is not mistaken for a wedding rate: 'THE REGIONAL PLATTER: $50 (SERVES TWO)'; 'GOMERSAL CHEESE & WINE FLIGHT: $25 PER PERSON'; 'THE LOCAL ARTISAN CHEESE TASTING PLATE: $15 PER PERSON'; 'TASTING FEES: $10 PER PERSON'; 'VINGIN EXPERIENCE - $25.00'; 'VINGIN FLIGHT - $15.00'; and a $15 per person non-refundable cellar-door reservation fee. price_per_head is NULL.
- THERE IS A FUNCTION FEE THRESHOLD ON CASUAL BOOKINGS worth knowing before assuming a small celebration can just book platters: 'Please note that platter bookings for celebrations larger than 12 guests will incur a function fee.'
- EXTERNAL CATERERS ARE PERMITTED WITH CONDITIONS: 'Gomersal Wines highly recommends several local Caterers who is experienced with working in our Venue. The process of sourcing menus and prices is simple. Any other preferred caterer you select must be able to supply Gomersal Wines with their ABN and supply a Certificate of Currency.' Quoted as published.
- THE DEPOSIT TERMS ARE STRICT AND FAST: 'At your request, a member of our team will email you our Wedding Registration Form to fill out and return. Once your form has been received an invoice will be raised requesting your booking deposit.' Then: 'Upon sending invoice to the client we request the booking deposit within 48 hours.' And on cancellation: 'Deposit and all subsequent money paid (as per T&C) is non refundable.'
- THE VENUE DECLINES CERTAIN EVENT TYPES, stated on its own functions page: 'Please note that Gomersal Wines does not accept hens or bucks parties, and usually does not accept 18th birthdays or 21st birthdays unless they are family events.' Not a wedding restriction, but it shapes what else can be booked around the weekend.
- VIEWINGS ARE BY APPOINTMENT through a named coordinator: 'Contact Gabriela via email (info@gomersalwines.com.au) or call our Cellar Door on (08) 85633611. It will be a pleasure to show you our venue!' The venue opens the wedding page by inviting exactly this: 'we would love for future bridal couples to make an appointment, walk through the venue, and discuss plans for your special day.'
- NO DIETARY POSITION IS PUBLISHED - no menu, no dietary note and no allergen policy appear anywhere, which follows from catering being outsourced. dietary_options_supported recorded NULL rather than inferred.
- NO ONSITE ACCOMMODATION is mentioned anywhere on the site.
- THE STREET ADDRESS CAME FROM THE SITE'S OWN STRUCTURED DATA, not from a directory: the /contact-us page renders only 67 characters of body text, but the ld+json Organization and LocalBusiness blocks both carry '203 Lyndoch Road, Gomersal, SA, 5352, Australia' with the same phone and email.
- THE IMAGE POOL IS AWARD-HEAVY. Of 24 images reviewed, six are award roundels (Australian Wedding Awards 2021 Highly Commended; Wedding Industry Awards SA #1 Winner 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025; Brides Choice 2021). All six were excluded from media; the awards themselves are real and current but are graphics, not photographs of the venue.
