Unpretentious and practical: nine function rooms, a bistro, a bar and courtyard, a heated pool and 47 rooms across three buildings. It describes itself as “The Award-Winning Community Owned Hotel”.

Setting & Style

The rooms scale from a 12-seat boardroom to the entire Vine Garden Room at 320 banquet or 460 cocktail. The Vine Garden Room is the wedding space — the venue’s own pack notes its “superb natural lighting and access to our garden area”, and its photographs show a parquetry dance floor, draped bridal tables and full-height windows onto greenery. Ceremonies run either in the garden or inside.

Menu structure is published even though its prices are not, and is worth knowing before enquiring: pre-dinner canapes require a minimum of two choices; a cocktail-style reception requires a minimum number of choices; plated menus run to two choices each of soup, entree, main and dessert 'served as an alternate drop'; a minimum of two courses must be selected; pre-dinner canapes are not counted as a course; and the BBQ buffet has a minimum of 20 people. The pack also warns of 'Market price fluctuations that impact any product' - a further reason not to quote its figures.
Room hire is discounted against accommodation, per the conferences page: 'Function room hire discounts are available based on number of accommodation room nights booked.' No rate or ratio is given, but for a wedding filling the hotel this is a real lever worth raising.
