Vine Inn Barossa
About
Overview & Vibe
A community-owned hotel on Murray Street in Nuriootpa, in the middle of the Barossa rather than out among the vines. Unpretentious and practical: nine function rooms, a bistro, a bar and courtyard, a heated pool and 47 rooms across three buildings. It describes itself as “The Award-Winning Community Owned Hotel”.
Setting & Style
The rooms scale from a 12-seat boardroom to the entire Vine Garden Room at 320 banquet or 460 cocktail. The Vine Garden Room is the wedding space — the venue's own pack notes its “superb natural lighting and access to our garden area”, and its photographs show a parquetry dance floor, draped bridal tables and full-height windows onto greenery. Ceremonies run either in the garden or inside.
Ideal For
Barossa weddings that need everything on one site — ceremony, reception and beds for the whole guest list — at a range of sizes very few regional venues can cover.
The Need-to-Knows
- The capacity range is unusually wide: nine configurations from 12 to 460, published as a full matrix on the venue's own conferences page.
- No current pricing is published. The only pack on the site is dated January 2023 and states its prices were valid until 31 March 2023, so none of its 63 figures are carried here. Ask for a current quote.
- Accommodation is split across two addresses — 18 executive rooms at the hotel, then 11 apartments and 18 motel rooms at Vine Court, 350m north at 49 Murray Street.
- Dietary requirements are handled: “Vegetarian options and other dietary requirement meals are available upon request”, with GF and vegan dishes marked on the menus.
- Elderton and Penfolds are within walking distance — useful for photographs and for guests with a free afternoon.
Standout Feature
A garden ceremony, a 460-capacity function room and 47 beds, all on one Nuriootpa block.

Price Notes
- NO CURRENT PRICING IS PUBLISHED AND NONE HAS BEEN CARRIED ACROSS. The domain serves exactly one pack, 'Vine-Inn-Barossa-Conference-Events-for-emailing-2023.pdf'. It is 22 pages and contains 63 dollar figures - room hire per room, canape, buffet and plated menu tiers, beverage packages - and NOT ONE is recorded here. The pack is dated 5 January 2023 by BOTH its PDF /ModDate AND its HTTP Last-Modified header, and it self-dates in its own terms: 'All prices include GST - Valid until 31 March 2023.' That is roughly three and a half years stale and more than three years past its own stated expiry. Structural facts from the same pack are used, and are marked where they appear.
- THE WEDDINGS PAGE ITSELF PUBLISHES NO NUMBERS AT ALL - no per-head rate, no room hire, no minimum spend, no capacity. It offers 'Wedding Packages' as a heading and an enquiry form asking for an approximate guest count and two preferred dates. Functions contact is Amanda Schmidt, functions@vineinn.com.au.
- MENU STRUCTURE IS PUBLISHED EVEN THOUGH ITS PRICES ARE NOT, and is worth knowing before enquiring: pre-dinner canapes require a minimum of two choices; a cocktail-style reception requires a minimum number of choices; plated menus run to two choices each of soup, entree, main and dessert 'served as an alternate drop'; a minimum of two courses must be selected; pre-dinner canapes are not counted as a course; and the BBQ buffet has a minimum of 20 people. The pack also warns of 'Market price fluctuations that impact any product' - a further reason not to quote its figures.
- ROOM HIRE IS DISCOUNTED AGAINST ACCOMMODATION, per the conferences page: 'Function room hire discounts are available based on number of accommodation room nights booked.' No rate or ratio is given, but for a wedding filling the hotel this is a real lever worth raising.
- AUDIO VISUAL IS INCLUDED BUT CONDITIONALLY: 'Subject to availability, a range of audio visual equipment is included in your room hire.' The listed equipment covers a lectern with built-in microphone and audio, cordless microphone, data projector and screen, large-screen TVs, in-house amplification, whiteboard, flip chart, lapel microphone, portable stage and a portable dance floor.
- IT IS A COMMUNITY-OWNED HOTEL, not a dedicated wedding venue - it runs a public bistro, Billy Jack's Bar and Courtyard, a TAB and lotteries outlet and a bottle shop alongside the function rooms. Worth asking how the public trade sits alongside a wedding.
- ACCOMMODATION SPANS TWO ADDRESSES. The 18 executive rooms are at the hotel, 14-22 Murray Street; the 11 self-contained apartments and 18 standard motel rooms are at Vine Court, 49 Murray Street, which the venue notes is 'Located 350m North of Vine Inn Reception'. Guests booked into Vine Court are a short walk from the reception, not on the same block.
- NO STRUCTURED PRICING DATA - the weddings page carries a single ld+json block describing the WebPage only, with no offers, price or priceRange keys.
