Luxe Wedding is upstairs. The ground floor is Luxe, a Hobart fashion boutique of more than twelve years on Liverpool Street; the bridal room occupies the second level, described by the store as “a private and luxurious space renowned for its attention to detail and personalised service”. It is a small, quiet, one-bride-at-a-time room rather than a shop floor.
The showcased label is Jenny Yoo, the New York designer, whose philosophy the store quotes: gowns in “rich and luxurious silks, chiffons, and delicate laces” with “unexpected details, cut, proportion, and workmanship”. The gown the store features is Bronte, a soft A-line in tulle worn strapless or off the shoulder. The upstairs room is “constantly re-stocking”, so what is hanging changes.
A bride who would rather not shop in a room full of other brides, and who wants the fitting handled under the same roof. It suits a considered, understated look more than a heavily beaded one — and because the boutique below carries Australian labels and Aesop, it is an easy place to spend an afternoon.
Bridal is by appointment only — call (03) 6236 9902 or email. You get a one-on-one private appointment with the store’s bridal consultant and its in-store seamstress. Bridal hours are Tuesday to Thursday 9.30am–5.30pm and Saturday 10am–4pm; the fashion floor below is open Monday to Friday 9.30–5.30 and Saturday 10–4. Ask for prices when you book.
The seamstress is in the building. The store’s own line is that “all gowns are individually fitted and altered by our talented seamstress”, and she is part of the appointment rather than a referral across town. For most brides alterations are a second search on top of the first one; here they are not.
