Finding Happy Photography is Will and Julia, a husband-and-wife team based in the Hobart area who shoot weddings together. They came to photography documenting their own travels and now describe themselves as life documentarians — the published work runs from a Franklin church wedding and a Mayfield Estate celebration on Tasmania’s east coast to a long run of weddings across Victoria.

Style & Approach

Documentary and candid, in their own words, and they are unusually direct about it: they set out the range of wedding photography styles a couple might choose between and then say plainly that theirs is the documentary, candid one. The aim is that you look back and feel the day again rather than recognise a pose.

Ideal For

Couples at either scale. The Synopsis collection is built for elopements and micro-weddings needing only a few hours, while The Full Story runs a ten-hour day and folds in a separate engagement shoot. Anyone who dislikes being photographed is explicitly catered for — they use games, prompts and guides rather than posing.

The Need-to-Knows

Three wedding collections, with six and ten-hour options priced and the elopement tier quoted custom. All prices include GST and are in Australian dollars, and both larger collections can be paid in twelve monthly instalments. Travel is included within 100km of Hobart. Extra hours can be added at any time, even on the night. A sneak peek arrives within 48 hours and the full gallery in about four weeks, with a slideshow.

Additional coverage can be bought on the day itself — if the dance floor is still going they will stay. Prints, frames and albums are ordered straight from your own gallery, made by a printer they describe as sixty years in the trade.
