Cassie Sullivan photographs weddings and elopements across Tasmania, and she is unusually clear about what draws her to it. My favourite part of photography is connecting with people. I’m an observer of moments and a feeler of emotions. She lives in the island’s south east and has photographed people everywhere from the rolling hills of Tasmania to the deserts of Saudi Arabia — and says it is always the people who shine brightest. Alongside weddings she keeps separate family and commercial practices.

Style & Approach

Documentary, and warm rather than cool. She sets out to record how things actually are — your love, your home, the smallest change in your facial expressions, where you choose to have your wedding day, who you choose to surround yourself with. She describes loving mood, warmth and intention, and believes you have to genuinely notice those things to tell someone’s story well.
