RJ Visuals is Rory, a wedding photographer and videographer whose own introduction runs “Home sweet home in Hobart, Tasmania” and who works alongside his wife Casey as a two-person team. He describes his mission as connecting on a deep level and bringing out laughter, tears and smiles, and says he wants to capture the entire vibe of a day so a couple can live it again.
The language throughout is candid and relaxed: he writes about blending in seamlessly, catching the contagious joy and the unexpected moments in between, and documenting the laidback vibes of a day rather than directing it. Couples nervous about being photographed are met with an offer of coffee beforehand, on the reasoning that a connection built in advance means nobody is working with a stranger holding a camera.
Couples who want photography and film from one team, and who are happy to travel — he takes bookings anywhere in Australia and overseas, and says travel is his other great enthusiasm. Equally suited to couples who want stills only, since two of the six collections are photography alone.
Six collections are published in three groups — two photography, two film, two combined — and each one is listed as price on request, with a stated entry point of $2,500 and a full price guide supplied on enquiry. A $1,000 deposit and a signed contract secure a date, and enquiries arrive as much as two years ahead. Delivery is written into his contract at around twelve weeks.
Two storytellers work the combined collections, so ceremony and speeches are filmed while the stills are being made — and every wedding gets an attempt at aerial coverage, weather, airspace and safety permitting.
