Wedding Florists · Gippsland, Victoria
Great Alpine Flowers is a family-owned florist and native flower farm working out of Sarsfield, just outside Bairnsdale, and it sits in a spot almost no other florist in East Gippsland does: it grows a good deal of what it arranges. The business calls itself a call-direct one, and that is the honest shape of it -- there is no shopfront to walk into and no online wedding checkout, just Myles and the team on the phone and flowers cut close to home.
The house look is native and seasonal, and the wedding gallery bears that out without ever tipping into novelty. White-and-green bouquets built on roses, hydrangea and eucalyptus sit beside arbours dressed in peach and cream, and the native material reads as texture rather than as a theme. Expect classic shapes with a paddock-grown edge.
Couples marrying anywhere across East Gippsland -- lakeside at Paynesville, in a shearing shed, or on a family farm -- who want flowers grown nearby and would rather talk it through than fill in a form. The gallery covers everything from a two-bridesmaid morning to a ten-strong bridal party along a fence line.
No wedding price list is published; wedding work is quoted on enquiry, and there is no minimum spend and no hire range stated anywhere. Delivery runs across Bairnsdale and surrounds on weekdays, flowers can be picked up as well as delivered, and the retail range that is priced online starts at $65. Enquiries go by phone to 0409 624 407.
The farm. ‘Direct from the farms’ is not a slogan here -- the native blooms in the bouquets are grown at Sarsfield, which means seasonal availability is a real conversation and the flowers have not spent a week in transit. For a couple who want local in the literal sense, that is hard to match.
