Valentina Flowers has traded from Seymour Arcade in Traralgon since 2013, and it is a proper high-street shop — open seven days, giftware alongside the buckets, Afterpay at the counter. It goes by Valentina + Botanix, and the wedding side sits within a working florist rather than apart from it. The welcome to couples is exactly as warm as that suggests: Firstly, congratulations on your engagement!
The wedding work leans romantic and garden-grown: a long low table garland of blush and peach garden roses with white dahlias, eucalyptus and dusty miller is the pick of it, and the bridal bouquets are soft cream-and-white. There is a moodier side too — one installation is built from white roses, gypsophila and dried seed pods shot almost in shadow. Dried arrangements and proteas are standing lines.
Couples marrying around Traralgon and the Latrobe Valley who would rather walk into a shop and talk to the florist than book a studio sight unseen. The shop is explicit that scale is not a barrier: small and intimate or large scale, we cater for all budgets. Good for anyone whose guest list or plans are still moving.
Wedding flowers are quoted through the studio’s enquiry form; nothing wedding-related is priced on the site, and no minimum spend or hire range is published. The shop is open Monday to Wednesday 9–3, Thursday and Friday 9–5.30, Saturday 9–2 and Sunday 10–2 — but there is no delivery on Sundays. Same-day local delivery needs an order before midday. 03 5174 9998.
Hailey, who owns it, grew up on a flower farm in Far East Gippsland — it was always hard yakka, but character building — then worked the wholesale floor at the Footscray markets and Bridge Road Florist in Richmond before opening her own shop. That is the grower’s end, the wholesale end and the retail end of the same trade, and it is a rarer background than any style statement.
