Wedding Photographers · Great Ocean Road / Lorne, Victoria
Rach Ramsey photographs weddings from the edge of the Otways, a short drive from the Great Ocean Road beaches, and she has been doing it for a decade — over a hundred weddings and elopements at Apollo Bay, Wye River, Lorne, Port Campbell and the Otways hinterland. Her blog is a working record rather than a showcase, with real weddings posted right up to the current season.
She does not put a label on her photography anywhere on her site, so none is claimed here. What the work shows is coastal and unhurried: couples on beaches and headlands, marquees in paddocks, sparklers on verandahs, and long golden-hour portraits in the hills behind the coast. Couples writing about her return to the same point — that she made people comfortable who do not enjoy being photographed, and that she knew the location already.
Couples marrying anywhere along the Great Ocean Road and through the Otways, especially at Apollo Bay, Wye River, Lorne, Skenes Creek, Forrest and Port Campbell. She is one of very few photographers actually based on this stretch of coast rather than travelling down from Geelong or Melbourne, and she also photographs elopements, proposals and families.
No prices, packages or hours are published anywhere on the site, and there is no pricing route to find — the cost of a wedding has to be settled with her directly. She publishes a mobile number and answers enquiries herself, aiming to reply quickly. She has been featured in Polka Dot Wedding, Ivory Tribe, Geelong Wedding Magazine, GT Bride and Real Weddings of South West Victoria, and the business was formerly called Sweeter Than Honey Photography.
Her list of favourite venues doubles as a map of where she actually works — Wye Beach Hotel, The Peak at Lorne, Mount Duneed, Seacroft, Industrie 26 and Provenance Wines, plus, in her own words, the many creative holiday houses scattered along the coast. For a couple choosing a Great Ocean Road venue, that is a photographer who has very likely already shot it.
