Wedding Photographers · Melbourne, Victoria · By appointment
Kayla Maree has photographed weddings since 2011 — more than 250 of them — and works out of Gippsland, across the rolling green hills of the south east and out to the coast. Her own framing is country and open: a wedding in the hills, an intimate winery wedding among the vines, or a laid-back affair somewhere with room to breathe. She shot her first wedding not long after her own, and says she still gets excited for every one.
Fun, relaxed and natural, in her own words. The aim is that you barely notice the camera, and that the best moments turn out to be ones you did not realise were being photographed until you see them later. Galleries come as a mixture of colour and black and white, and she does not cap how many images you receive — most couples get somewhere between 400 for a shorter day and 900 or more for a long one.
Couples marrying in Gippsland who want the landscape in the pictures, and couples eloping midweek — the elopement and micro wedding rate is Monday to Thursday and is less than half the entry price of a full wedding day. Three collections cover a five hour afternoon through to a full day with a second photographer. She also welcomes dogs, enthusiastically and in writing.
Wedding collections begin at $3,250 and elopements and micro weddings at $1,750, midweek only and with conditions. Every collection includes high resolution files suitable for printing plus a matching set of web-sized files, delivered through an online gallery. A sneak peek of eight to ten favourites arrives within 48 hours of the wedding, and the full gallery within eight weeks. Meetings are held on weeknights over video call.
The top collection includes a 10 by 10 inch heirloom album in the price rather than as an afterthought, alongside a second photographer and 850 or more images — so the thing most couples end up wanting a year later is already accounted for on the day they book.
