Wedding Photographers · Broome, Western Australia
Laura Gass came to Broome from France and stayed, and she now photographs weddings across the Kimberley coast while raising two boys there. She works across weddings, elopements, maternity, birth, newborns and families, and describes the whole business as lifestyle photography — which in practice means she is as comfortable in the turquoise shallows at Cable Beach as in a reception marquee.
Her stated aim is to help people shine in front of the camera in a relaxed environment, and she puts it plainly: if you believe dresses are meant to get dirty, shoes to be kicked off and hair to be wind-blown, the two of you will get along. The published work follows — couples waist-deep in the water at dusk, a bride walking the red pindan cliffs with her train across the rock, portraits under boab trees. There is a client closet of dresses and hats available to borrow for a session, and she offers a Trash The Dress shoot for couples who would rather wear the dress a second time than box it up.
Couples marrying on the Broome coast who want the landscape in the frame rather than behind it, and anyone eloping to the Kimberley — the two-hour elopement package is built exactly for that. Because she also shoots maternity, birth and newborns, a couple who stay in the north-west can keep the same photographer for whatever comes next, which is not a small thing in a town this remote.
Wedding coverage is published as three tiers — Bronze at $4,000 for four hours and at least 200 edited images, Silver at $5,000 for six hours and 400, Gold at $6,000 for eight hours and 600 — with an elopement at $1,900 for two hours and engagement or trash-the-dress sessions at $800. Every wedding package includes a pre-wedding consultation, a password-protected online gallery and a USB of the high-resolution files, and Gold and Silver add a sneak peek within 72 hours. Extra retouching is quoted separately. The full gallery delivery time is not published, so ask. Contact is by email or phone.
The 72-hour sneak peek is unusually fast, and in Broome it matters more than it sounds: guests fly in from across the country for a wedding here and are gone within days, so having photographs to send while everyone is still together is worth something. Pair that with a published eight-hour tier delivering 600 images and the whole ladder is legible before you make contact — rare on this coast, where most pricing arrives only by email.
