A newly refurbished retro-style hotel on five acres of tropical gardens at Nambucca Heads, with a lily pond and a white timber footbridge, halfway between Sydney and Brisbane and 30 minutes from Coffs Harbour airport. The whole resort can be hired exclusively — “gather together, stay together, play together” — with 37 rooms sleeping up to 110 guests.

Setting & Style

Ceremonies go on a flat lawn beside the pond, with the bridge and a water feature as the backdrop and a jacaranda for shade. The reception runs in a light-filled restaurant whose large doors open onto a festoon-lit deck over the pond, with a separate bar area for a DJ, a band or a lounge. Colour, palms and mid-century lettering throughout — it commits to the retro thing rather than apologising for it.

Couples who want the whole weekend rather than the whole day, with everyone staying on site and a pool party the night before.

The Need-to-Knows

110 seated, 150 cocktail, and catering is priced on a minimum of 50 guests.
Venue hire is included in packages for events over 80 guests — below that it is presumably charged, though the brochure does not say what.
A 15% surcharge applies on Sundays and public holidays, and Sunday receptions must finish an hour earlier (10.30pm rather than 11.30pm).
Food from $68 per head, drinks from $34. Canapés $68pp, share table $70pp, two-course seated $70pp, three-course $79pp; standard beverage packages run $34pp for three hours to $54pp for seven.
The booking fee is $1,000 and non-refundable. Extra setup staff are billed — waitstaff $40 per 30 minutes ($60 Sundays), chef $120/hour ($180 Sundays).

To secure the booking for your dates, a non-refundable Booking fee of $1,000 is payable. Upon receipt of payment, all venue and accommodation will be blocked. Extra setup staff are billed by the half hour and the rates are published: 'Any staff required for additional setup including ceremony chairs or table setting at the following rates: Waitstaff payable at $40/30 mins, $60/30 mins/Sundays. Chef payable at $120/hr, $180/hr Sundays.' Unusual to publish, and worth budgeting for since ceremony chair setup is explicitly named as chargeable.
Music is capped and volume is the venue's call: 'For your reception, a maximum 5 piece band or DJ is permitted. The venue reserves the right to control the volume at all times.'
Other terms: 'External Supplier lists and contacts must be advised 2 weeks prior to event date. Suppliers are responsible for storing and set-up of equipment unless prior arrangements have been made. Personal items required for wedding setup (eg placards) must be delivered 48 hours prior to Event.' And: 'Confirmed guest numbers and menu selections are required 2 weeks prior to the event. No refunds for decrease in final numbers.'
