About

Overview & Vibe

Number 1 Ocean Street is the function venue on the top floor of the Woolgoolga Surf Life Saving Club, and it calls itself the Coffs Coast's only absolute beachfront wedding venue. It sits directly on the sand at the southern end of Woolgoolga's main beach — which the venue notes was named Australia's best mainland beach in 2025 — with wrap-around glass on three sides and an expansive ocean-front deck. The building is new and the fit-out is deliberately blank-canvas: one couple's review calls it “the PERFECT canvas.”

Setting & Style

One room, used several ways. Seated banquets run indoors under natural light with uninterrupted ocean views and a purpose-built dance floor; receptions can instead be set entirely on the ocean-front deck, which has retractable all-weather screens, for an alfresco dinner or a cocktail party. Ceremonies have real choice: the beach itself, the headland park a short walk away where an arbour frames the ocean, a rainforest glade under ten minutes' drive, the township's churches and temples — or two all-weather options on site, which the venue says some couples pick as Plan A rather than Plan B, and does not charge extra for.

Ideal For

Couples who want to run their own show. The venue is BYO in both directions: the fully equipped bar is “just waiting for you to fill it with your own beer and wine” with the venue's RSA staff doing the set-up, serving and clean-up and whatever is left over going home with you; and the commercial kitchen is fitted out for your caterers, so you choose the food, the styling and the vendors without a preset package. Exclusive use is standard, and there is a dedicated events manager to coordinate it.

The Need-to-Knows

Hire starts at $1,600 ex GST, varying by function type and day of the week, with a Wedding Kit available on request — unusually transparent for this campaign, though it is a hire fee, not a per-head rate. Seating is 180 for a sit-down banquet. Note that the venue stocks 220 dining chairs, and third-party listings quote 220 as the guest capacity; 180 is the figure the venue itself gives for a seated wedding. Weddings get the venue from 9am on the day until 8am the next morning, bookings are full-day only, cleaning is included, and the curfew is 11.30pm — which the venue points out is later than most in the area. There is no accommodation on site; the venue instead publishes a list of around thirty nearby properties, some within walking distance.

Standout Feature

You can be married on the sand and walk upstairs to dinner. Very few Australian venues are genuinely on the beach rather than near it, and fewer still hand you the bar, the kitchen and the whole building for the night and let you take the leftover wine home.

Price Notes

  • HIRE FEE: "Rates start at $1,600 (ex GST)", varying by function type and day of the week, with a Wedding Kit or Events Kit available on request. Cleaning is included in the hire fee. ACCESS: for weddings and engagements the venue is yours "from 9am on the day of the event to 8am the following day"; corporate events and private functions get an eight-hour window and wakes up to four hours. Bookings are full-day only, except wakes and memorials. The CURFEW is 11.30pm, which the venue notes is later than most venues in the area. EXCLUSIVE USE is standard and includes the ocean-front deck. THE BAR IS BYO: "Our fully equipped bar has been kitted out with the best barware around and is just waiting for you to fill it with your own beer and wine... And the best bit — what you don't use during your function, you take home with you. Our RSA staff will take care of the set-up, serving and cleaning up." CATERING IS ALSO BYO — the commercial kitchen is fitted for the couple's own caterers, and vendors, styling and decorators are the couple's choice with no preset packages. INCLUDED IN THE HIRE FEE: free wi-fi; data projector and screen; wireless microphone and lectern; an AV system with eight linked LCD screens; an integrated PA extending to the deck; a whiteboard; 24 round tables seating 10, 30 square tables seating 4, 220 dining chairs, 20 cocktail tables and 80 cocktail chairs; a teak lounge setting; full tableware for three-course, share-plate, grazing, canape or buffet service; glassware including red and white wine, champagne, saucers, beer, spirits and cocktail glasses; full air conditioning; lift access; the ocean-front deck with retractable all-weather screens; skylight roof windows; and a dance floor. OPTIONAL HIRE: timber trestle tables, fairy lights, linen and more; couples may also bring their own styling items. WET WEATHER: two on-site all-weather ceremony options, with no extra charge. A dedicated events manager coordinates the booking and inclusions; event planners can be recommended but are not provided. NOTE ON THE PDF: the site links a '4 Ceremony Options' PDF whose internal CreationDate and ModDate are both 3 December 2020 — around five and a half years old — so no pricing has been taken from it; its four ceremony locations are in any case described on the weddings page itself.
