About
The Canberra District wine region spreads across the tablelands north of the ACT border, centred on Murrumbateman and running through Hall, Springrange and Yass. It sits at some of the highest elevations of any Australian wine region, which gives it cold winters, warm dry summers and a landscape of open paddocks, granite outcrops and long views back toward the Brindabella Ranges.
Weddings here are country weddings within half an hour of a capital city. Cellar doors and purpose-built pavilions host the receptions, ceremonies happen among the vines or under old eucalypts on the ridgelines, and the light in the late afternoon is the reason most couples choose the region. Guests can stay in Canberra and drive out, or take rooms on the properties themselves, and the region’s cool-climate shiraz and riesling usually end up on the table.
