Overview & Vibe

Highclere Farm is an 1895 Italianate mansion on an elevated plateau in the Yass Valley, twelve minutes from Yass and fifty from Canberra. It was one of the district’s great pastoral estates — 60,000 acres in the wool boom — and has been restored since 2020 into a whole-property destination venue. It appeared on ABC’s Restoration Australia.

Setting & Style

Thirty-six rooms across four levels, topped by a Belvedere Tower roof-top terrace the wedding party gets escorted access to for photographs. Ceremonies happen on the Grand East Terrace with the tower behind, or in the Elm Bower by the lake, framed by hundred-year-old English elms. Receptions run in a dedicated area between the homestead and the water — cocktail, long-table garden party, or a marquee.

Ideal For

Fifty to a hundred and fifty guests, and couples who want the wedding to be a weekend rather than an afternoon. The current offer stretches an eight-hour hire to twelve, includes two nights in the mansion with a third free, and throws in a recovery event.

The Need-to-Knows

Nothing is catered and nothing is included beyond the venue — you bring your own caterer from the Inn’s three preferred suppliers or your own choice, and marquees are priced separately. Note also that the accommodation takes children over 14 only, that the mansion interior is closed to non-staying guests unless agreed, and that amplified sound stops at 9.30pm Sunday to Thursday and 11.30pm Friday and Saturday.

Standout Feature

The house is the venue and the accommodation at once. Ten king bedrooms and eight bathrooms sleep twenty inside the mansion, with the second-floor Tower Suite — its own sitting room, bedroom and ensuite — as the bridal suite: where the party gets ready in the morning and where the couple retreats at the end of the night, without leaving the property.

Mansion accommodation is included in that offer — 10 King bedrooms for up to 20 guests for 2 nights, described by the venue as "valued at AU$3,600 per night for 2-nights" — and "each booking receives a 3rd night free"
Public holiday events require a 3-night minimum booking, with a complimentary 4th night free
