Wendy Parker is based in Lithgow and covers the Blue Mountains across to the Central West. She photographs elopements and intimate weddings alongside maternity, newborn and family work, and says her feeling for the job doubled once she became a mother herself; she started seeing connections in a session she had not seen before.
Warm and unforced. Her published wedding work is a hilltop ceremony in front of hay bales and a cabin morning with a lace gown and a pair of well-worn boots; small weddings photographed close in, with the couple’s own child in the frame rather than tidied out of it. She describes herself as someone who laughs and has fun on the day, and puts her whole heart into a session.
Couples eloping or marrying small anywhere between the Blue Mountains and the Central West, especially on a property or a hilltop rather than in a reception room. She also travels for it. Families who want the same photographer for the years after the wedding will find maternity, newborn and family sessions on the same list.
Elopement and intimate wedding packages, and the wedding itself is quoted after a conversation rather than sold off a list. Hours, image counts and delivery times are published for her portrait sessions but not for weddings, so those are worth asking about early.
She is one of very few wedding photographers who actually live in Lithgow, which matters more than it sounds; the drive up from Sydney is a real cost on a small wedding budget, and a photographer already on the western side of the mountains is not paying it.
