Wedding Photographers · Darwin, Northern Territory
Rex Yu is a Darwin-based wedding photographer who has been shooting since 2012 and has photographed more than forty weddings across Asia and Australia. His Top End work runs from barefoot beach ceremonies at golden hour to tropical garden receptions strung with festoon lights, and he covers elopements as readily as full-day celebrations.
He works for natural, true-to-life colour rather than heavy processing, so the warmth and atmosphere of a Territory afternoon survive into the finished images. In his own words he aims to create a relaxed and fun environment where people feel comfortable, and the coverage bears that out: unguarded laughter, a mother helping with a zip, grandparents holding hands through the speeches.
Couples marrying around Darwin who want an unhurried photographer rather than a director. Rex describes himself as a local Asian photographer in Darwin and works with multicultural ceremonies and their traditions, and he also offers pre-wedding sessions, a format he built his early career on in Taiwan.
Enquiries go through an online form and Rex aims to reply within one to two business days. No figures are published, so budgets are quoted individually. Alongside weddings he shoots family, maternity, events, branding portraits and commercial work, so it is worth confirming your date early.
The Darwin light is the thing he is best at using. Ceremony frames shot straight into a low tropical sun keep detail in both the sky and the faces, and the beach sets carry that glow right through to the final kiss.
