Ferns Hideaway Resort
About
Overview & Vibe
Ferns Hideaway is a forty-two acre rainforest resort on Cahills Road at Byfield, north of Yeppoon, where a garden restaurant, log cabins and a creek sit on one property that can be hired whole. It is the rare Capricorn Coast venue that publishes its full price list.
Setting & Style
Ceremonies happen outdoors — garden and creek-side spots, the rustic undercover shed known as The Trough & Trolley, or the manicured lawns beside the restaurant, which are sized for large marquees and stretch tents. The reception moves into the indoor garden restaurant, air-conditioned and backed by tropical greenery, seating a hundred or holding a hundred and forty standing, with a licensed bar, a grand brick fireplace, audio system, projector, microphone and a small stage. Take the property exclusively and the tennis court, in-ground pool, Waterpark Creek with its Canadian canoes, five cabins and cottage and twenty-five campsites come with it for two nights.
Ideal For
Couples who want the whole place to themselves for a weekend, with guests staying on site in cabins and tents, and who would rather read the prices than request them.
The Need-to-Knows
- Restaurant seats up to 100, or 140 standing for a cocktail reception; exclusive-use packages are priced to a maximum of 120 guests.
- A Wedding Planner is mandatory — the venue requires you to engage one, and states this is a separate role from its own on-site event coordinator.
- Exclusive use is a two-night package including accommodation in five cabins and a cottage plus the campsites; weekend from $9,950 to $12,950 by guest count, midweek from $8,850, one-day midweek from $5,300.
- Non-exclusive day use on a Friday or Saturday is $1,300 or $1,600 — the page lists both figures against identical inclusions without saying what separates them.
- Catering is either in-house or your own caterer. In-house has a 30 guest minimum and includes tables, chairs, linen, crockery, cutlery and glassware; those items are excluded if you cater elsewhere, and catering outside the restaurant carries a logistics surcharge.
- Food and beverage, music, security, marquees, styling and florals are all excluded from the venue-hire price. A 20% surcharge applies on public holiday weekends.
Standout Feature
Forty-two acres of rainforest, creek and lawn taken over entirely for two nights, with the whole wedding party sleeping on site.

Price Notes
- Ferns publishes its full wedding price list. Non-exclusive day use on a Friday or Saturday is listed twice with identical inclusions at two prices, $1,600 and $1,300 - the page does not say what distinguishes them - covering the arbour, preparation of the grounds, a registry table, 30 outdoor chairs, PA system, public liability insurance, four hours use of the grounds for guests and photos, and the on-site event coordinator. Exclusive use is a two-night package to a maximum of 120 guests. Weekend, 12pm Friday to 10am Sunday: up to 60 people $9,950, up to 80 $10,950, up to 100 $11,950, up to 120 $12,950, with a 20% surcharge on public holiday weekends. Midweek two-day, 12pm Tuesday to 10am Thursday: up to 60 $8,850, up to 80 $9,350, up to 100 $10,150, up to 120 $10,650. Midweek one-day, any Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday 12pm to 10am the following day: up to 60 $5,300, up to 80 $5,800, up to 100 $6,300, up to 120 $6,800. NOTE a discrepancy on the venue's own page: a summary line above the tables gives Monday to Thursday from $8,550, while the midweek table starts at $8,850. Exclusive hire includes all guest and recreation areas, the 42 acres, tennis court, in-ground pool and Waterpark Creek access, the wedding garden ceremony area with outdoor seating for 30, the garden restaurant on the event day with tables and chairs, The Trough & Trolley camp lounge, two nights in the Heritage Cabin (sleeps 7), Banksia Cabin (6), Ironbark Cabin (6), Pioneers Cabin (6) and Bowenia Cottage (6), and the 25 on-site campsites to a maximum of 100 campers. Excluded are food and beverages, glassware, crockery, cutlery, serving ware and table linen, event music or DJ, security, marquees or tents, wedding planning, styling and florals, and staff if catering is outsourced - though the tableware is included if Ferns caters inside the restaurant. Where Ferns caters outside the restaurant, for a marquee or tent reception on the lawn, an additional surcharge applies for logistics and extra labour. In-house catering carries a 30 guest minimum. Couples are required to engage a Wedding Planner, separate from the venue's on-site event coordinator. Additional nights' accommodation are available as an optional extra subject to availability.
- Cabin accommodation is separately rated from $210 to $230 per night for two people, with each additional person $30 per person per night.
