Ambrym Estate
About
Overview & Vibe
A private 50-acre estate in the Woodbury hinterland, fifteen minutes from Yeppoon, on a hilltop with views running from the rolling mountains down to Corio Bay and the Keppel Islands. At its centre is a 1940s Queenslander relocated from Rockhampton by the Thorpe family, who found the land in 2010 and built the rest around it — a pool, a pool house, gardens. The estate is named for Ambrym Island in the New Hebrides, where the family's ancestors came from.
Setting & Style
The reception space is a Hamptons-inspired pavilion, 13m × 11m, in travertine tile with exposed rafters and soft ambient lighting, overlooking a resort-style pool and the whole panorama. Optional weatherproof pull-down blinds close it in. Ceremonies go on the manicured lawn, which the estate describes as “framed by lush surroundings and panoramic ocean views”, with more than one ceremony location offered. Behind the pavilion sit a fully equipped commercial kitchen and a BYO bar with a commercial glass washer and premium glassware.
Ideal For
Couples taking the whole place for a weekend at up to 125 guests, who want the getting-ready, the ceremony, the reception and the first night all inside one gate.
The Need-to-Knows
- Every package price is published, and they are exclusive-hire totals. Luxury Weekend $22,000 (three nights, four days, all three accommodations); Weekend $20,000 (two nights, three days); Honeymoon $16,000 (the day plus one night in the honeymoon suite); Full Day $15,000 (7am–11.30pm, no accommodation); Events $11,000 (seven hours, up to 70 guests — and explicitly not available for weddings). All inc GST, all marked “subject to changes”.
- The 2026 and 2027 price lists are identical. Both published, both the same five packages at the same five prices — unusual, and useful if you are booking two years out.
- Bring your own everything except the furniture. The bar is BYO and the kitchen is commercial but unstaffed — caterer, bar service and drinks are yours to arrange. What is included is substantial: arbour, signing table and chairs, timber rectangle and round tables, cross-back chairs, white ceremony chairs, high tables and bar stools, cake table, knife and server, plateware, glassware and cutlery.
- 125 guests, but only 14 can stay. The estate is firm — “we cater to a maximum of 14 guests staying on the property” — across the Farmhouse (three bedrooms, sleeps 6), the Honeymoon Suite and the Left Wing (sleeps 4). Everyone else drives back to Yeppoon.
- Parking is 30 cars and the estate says to plan around it: “For larger gatherings or weddings we recommend arranging a bus transfer.” Grounds are flat with disability-friendly amenities.
- There is no phone number on the site. Contact is admin@ambrymestate.com and an enquiry form; a complimentary estate tour is offered.
Standout Feature
A relocated 1940s Queenslander on a private hilltop, with a travertine pavilion looking over a resort pool to the Keppel Islands — and a published price for taking all fifty acres for four days.

EVENTS $11,000 inc GST - seven hours, up to 70 guests, and NOT AVAILABLE FOR WEDDINGS. Every package carries 'Prices are subject to changes'.
- THE 2026 AND 2027 PRICE LISTS ARE PUBLISHED SEPARATELY AND ARE IDENTICAL - same five packages at $22,000 / $20,000 / $16,000 / $15,000 / $11,000, same inclusions. The only textual difference is that the 2026 Weekend Package is described as '3 days & 2 nights' and the 2027 as '2 nights and 3 days'. A 2025 package page also exists and is linked from the weddings page. Recorded because forward-published, flat pricing across two years is rare and useful for a couple booking long.
- INCLUSIONS ARE FURNITURE AND FACILITY, NOT FOOD OR DRINK. Common to the weekend packages: 'Complimentary access to the following items: Wedding arbour. Signing table & chairs. Timber rectangle tables, round tables & cross back chairs. White ceremony chairs. High tables & bar stools. Cake table, knife & server. Plateware, glassware & cutlery.' Plus 'Acres of manicured grounds & gardens', 'Hampton's inspired pavilion-reception area', 'Kitchen & BYO Bar area', 'Luxurious restrooms facilities', 'Luxury resort style pool', 'State of the art surround sound PA system' and 'Ambient lighting'. THE BAR IS BYO AND THE KITCHEN IS UNSTAFFED: 'Our BYO bar area offers a sophisticated and welcoming space for your guests to enjoy. Complete with a commercial glass washer and full access to premium glassware, this bar is also conveniently located next to the fully equipped modern commercial kitchen.' Catering, bar service and drinks are the couple's to arrange, so no per-head food figure exists.
- PARKING IS A PUBLISHED CONSTRAINT: 'The estate has crafted flat grounds & disability-friendly amenities ensuring a welcoming environment for all our guests as well as car-parking for up to 30 car spaces. For larger gatherings or weddings we recommend arranging a bus transfer.' Thirty spaces against 125 guests is the reason the recommendation exists.
- ACCOMMODATION IS CAPPED WELL BELOW THE GUEST CEILING: 'Please note we cater to a maximum of 14 guests staying on the property.' See onsite_accommodation for the breakdown.
- NO PHONE NUMBER APPEARS ANYWHERE ON THE SITE. The contact page publishes only 'admin@ambrymestate.com', the postal address and the ABN 57165095410, plus an enquiry form; every package page ends with 'To book a complimentary estate tour or for further information... please click below. Inquire Now.' phone_number recorded NULL on the same basis as Mountain Path Meadows (Batch 114) - complete pricing, no telephone.
- THE ESTATE'S HISTORY IS PUBLISHED AND EXPLAINS THE BUILDINGS: 'Discovered in 2010, the secluded sanctuary quickly became a cherished weekend escape, a space where the Thorpe family explored untouched bushland and embraced the simplicity of country life. In a project that reflected the family's love for craftsmanship, they relocated a beautifully preserved 1940s Queenslander from Rockhampton to the hilltop, laying the foundation for their vision. Thoughtful enhancements, such as a pool, pool house, additional rooms and pristine gardens have been integrated, all while nurturing the native surroundings. The estate's name honours the Thorpe/Geissmann ancestors, who journeyed from Ambrym Island in the New Hebrides to cultivate the fertile lands of this region.'
- THE ESTATE RUNS A BUSY PUBLIC AND EDITORIAL PROGRAMME under 'Ambrym Stories' and hosts non-wedding events such as a Melbourne Cup Soiree - worth checking a date against. It also markets private functions, milestone birthdays, baby showers and wellness retreats through the Events Package.
- THE ESTATE PUBLISHES AI-GENERATED IMAGERY ON ITS OWN SITE, and the filenames disclose it. Three images are named 'ChatGPT Image Jul 27, 2026 at 04_25_08 PM.png', '...04_49_32 PM.png' and '...05_00_44 PM.png' - created two days before this harvest. They are among the most attractive images on the site (a floral ceremony arch on open lawn against sky and ocean; a bride running on the lawn; a bride with a red balloon) and they are not photographs of the property. All three were excluded from this listing. RECORDED BECAUSE IT BEARS ON EVERY OTHER CLAIM DRAWN FROM IMAGERY: a couple viewing this site cannot tell which ceremony setups exist. The written descriptions of the pavilion, pool, lawn and gardens are the venue's own prose and are treated as the reliable source. This is the second AI-content disclosure in four batches, after Note Park's Canva /containsAiGeneratedContent flag in Batch 177 - there the metadata told us, here the filename did.
- NO STRUCTURED PRICING DATA. Each page carries three schema blocks and none contains an offer, price or priceRange.
