JAM Corner
About
Overview & Vibe
JAM Corner sits at 1 Palmer Street in South Townsville, a chef-led restaurant that turns over its whole building for weddings, with the city lights and Ross River as the backdrop.
Setting & Style
The building works on two levels and the wedding uses both. Upstairs, the Loft by JAM is a boutique function room with floor-to-ceiling windows and large balconies over the CBD and the river, comfy lounges and air conditioning — eighty for cocktails or fifty seated. Downstairs the restaurant seats a hundred, and the LUXE private dining room takes eighteen. The signature move is a Sunday: book out the restaurant and the first floor together exclusively, so guests drink canapés on the balcony while the photographs are taken, move downstairs to a private restaurant for entrée, main, dessert and speeches, then come back upstairs for the party. All canapés and dishes are made in house from seasonal produce.
Ideal For
Couples who care more about the food than the view, and want a whole-building takeover in the middle of Townsville rather than a resort or a garden.
The Need-to-Knows
- Loft by JAM: up to 80 cocktail or 50 seated. Restaurant: 100 either way. LUXE private dining: 18 seated.
- Weddings are catered any day of the week; Sunday is when the whole venue can be booked exclusively.
- No accommodation on site — the Grand Hotel and Oaks Gateway are named as nearby options.
- Function and event enquiries go to a different address from general enquiries.
- Menus are seasonal and quoted on enquiry; no per-head wedding rate is published.
Standout Feature
An exclusive Sunday takeover that moves your wedding between a river-view balcony, a private restaurant and back upstairs for dancing.

Price Notes
- No wedding per-head rate or package price is published on the site; menus are seasonal and quoted on enquiry, with function and event enquiries directed to a separate address from general enquiries. What the venue does publish is the structure of a booking. Weddings are catered every day of the week, but Sunday is the day the entire restaurant and first floor can be booked out together exclusively: guests take champagne and canapes upstairs on the balcony while photographs are taken, move downstairs to the private restaurant for entree, main, dessert and speeches, then return upstairs for dancing. Couples choose between a cocktail party and an intimate sit-down dinner, with seasonally inspired menus tailored to individual taste. Capacity drives the room choice - the first floor function room takes 80 cocktail or 50 seated, the restaurant 100 either way, and the LUXE private dining room 18 seated. There is no accommodation on site; the venue names the Grand Hotel and Oaks Gateway as nearby options for guests. Downloadable menus include a dedicated Function Menu and a Shared Experience Menu.
