The Farm Plumeria Road is a working farm turned wedding property at Black River, half an hour north of Townsville, and it sells one thing above all: time. Three of its four packages run for three or four days, not an afternoon. The owners, Sandra and Rick, put it as “We provide the space. You create the story”, and the site calls the result a “Wedding Fest” — guests camping on site, fire pits going, a welcome dinner one night and breakfast the next morning.

Setting & Style

Hundreds of acres of North Queensland bushland nestled between Mt Black and the Black River. The centrepiece is a 360 square metre rustic Wed Shed strung with fairy lights, with a separate country bar, wine barrels, timber-top drum barrels, a cold room and a dance floor. Ceremonies have three distinct sites — a gazebo set in gardens overlooking a tropical lagoon, a windmill arbor, and a water’s edge arch — and a rustic timber bridge crosses the lagoon to the manicured lawn beyond. There is a private lookout on the property for photographs.

Ideal For

Couples who want a whole weekend rather than a wedding day, and who are happy to build the day from their own suppliers. The farm provides the site, the furniture, the bar and a stainless steel kitchen for caterers’ use — food and drink come from outside, and the site lists local celebrants, caterers, photographers and cake makers it works with regularly. Also strong for elopements: the property markets sunset elopements as one of its four modes alongside garden ceremonies, barn receptions and full weekend experiences.

The Need-to-Knows

No wedding pricing is published. All four packages are described in full detail — every inclusion is listed — but no figure is attached to any of them, and the six motel units carry the note “please enquire for prices”. The only rates on the whole site are for non-wedding farmstays, booked through a separate form. Capacity is 150 seated in the Wed Shed, with the campground taking up to 60. Accommodation on site is real but modest: six motel-style units, a four-bedroom family home in the top package, and camping with hot showers and a toilet block. Note that the site contradicts itself on the size of the property, describing it as 430 acres in one place and 540 acres in another, and the manicured lawn as both ten acres and four; the ten-acre figure is the one repeated across every package.
